Default Level 1 max charge current?

Hell, I'm new to club Lexus. I installed a 16 amp level 1 charger. However, our NX450h+ is only pulling 12 amps form the charger. This happens when I set the Lexus to 16 amps or max current in the infotainment center. I plugged the charger into our other electric car and it pulled 16 amps. My question is; does anyone know if the 450h+ can only pull 12 amps with any level 1 charger?

You would probably get better responses in the dedicated forum for your vehicle, but this is from a Lexus FAQ I found online:

The odd thing there is that must be a lot of charging loss here for it to take 12 hours to charge the 6.6 kW battery.

At 120v and 12 amps you're nominally charging at 1.44 kW before losses. L1 does have higher charge losses in general, but that seems high.

Yes, that's normal for that model. The NX450h+ is software-limited to 12 amps on a Level 1 charger for some reason, even if your EVSE can provide more.

It's a known quirk. You're not doing anything wrong. The car just won't draw more than 12 amps from a standard 120v outlet.
