I have solar, but it's winter, it's been raining, cloudy, shorter days, so I've been generating anything from 15 kWh to 27 kWh per day. With 4 EV's, shorter and colder days, energy usage has been pretty high as compared to the amount being generated by solar which is only a small pittance. This month in fact I hit over 1400 kWh usage:
After doing some quick math, the amount I am paying is 0.143 cents per kWh. Total usage this month, which includes household appliances, lights etc is 1445 kWh. To figure out how much of this is from our four electric cars, I pulled the last 30 days history from our Level 2 charger:
Rounding that out, it comes to about 200 kWh. The cost for charging four EV's that average about 12,000 miles a year....$29. Per month. That...is...insane!
I'm just having a lot of trouble believing that, so I decided to double it to 400 kWh.....and that's $57.
I used to spend on gas, easily $70 a week per car. And then there was oil changes every 5k at $80 a pop (I never believed in the 10K intervals). Damn.
I remember one of my friends quit smoking, he was spending about $50 a week on cigarettes. As a reminder to stay "sober", he would put $50 a week in a jar, and in a couple of years he had saved up a bunch of cash. Maybe I should do something similar, put $70 a week times 3 (my daughter would be paying for her own gas....she's a working girl )

I have spent 0 dollars on electrons since my Etron purchase in November, between free charging at work and free EA
How many miles have you put on your EV? Do you have the capabilities to level 2 charge at home?
We've spent a total of $220 over 4,100 miles so far. We've only supercharged 3x for 92kWh, which helps keep our costs down. Supercharge rate has not changed at the locations we've used (.38/kWh). Home hovers around .10/kWh. For reference, gas went up .65/gal yesterday! Not sure why, but I really don't care. I haven't filled up my truck since July.
No clue what my daily cost is. However based on my mileage and approximating how much free electrons I got at superchargers on trips over the last 4.5 years and 90k kilometers, it's cost me about $1k CAD.

about 2500 miles. I can charge at home at 25 cents per kw, level 2, but I haven't needed to.
Seriously??? I have Solar as well, and look at my Feb PG&E bill
PGE is so messed up on multiple levels. All those commercials about how they are using the money they have received from jacking up rates to improve safety...

That's an understatement. They continue to raise rates, and have lobbied to make new solar unaffordable to new customers. They are also lobbying to tax solar being sent to the grid, which would make it more expensive for existing customers. They have the PUC in their pockets as well
Your bill looks like mine and I have zero solar. AND electricity here is stupid expensive. Damn.
Remember, I have FOUR EV's, plus we got an Electric Stove a couple months back, which also uses a 240 circuit (30 A). When Spring/Summer comes, it should cut my bill down 70 to 80 percent. I'm not your typical power customer. PG&E sent us a letter asking us about the number of EV's. The only other people that use this much energy are pot farmers

Understood, but I pay the highest electricity rates in Canada (used to be the lowest). What would your bill be approximately if you didn't have solar?
.....I would have told PG&E to go tenderly love themselves none of their business what you use power for.

I really don't know the explanation. I guess we get more sun in sunny SoCal
Pardon me if you've explained it before, but what is 3rd party electric and how is it different from electric?
