Varies and Tesla is offering a monthly subscription to decrease the cost. Current cost at the magic dock I charged at before is $0.52/kWh. EA station nearby is $0.45/kWh

Do you know any way on the map to determine what is a V3 or V4 charger? Just looking at whats on the routes I take and anticipating what will work.

For instance there is a Tesla Supercharger in Mt Hope, WV which is like 10 miles from my cousin's house, but the map shows a max of 150kw, so my guess is they are not V3 chargers

Can you give us an approximate address and we can input it into the map to see.

Mount Hope has 8 Superchargers, they go up 150 kW, which is completely workable

Yeah if it's 150 and under assume it's a V2

Mount Hope. The 150kw is workable but it doesn’t sound like I would have access to that without a Tesla because it’s a V2

By the time the network is open to other manufacturers, their maps should be updated with locations that allow for non-Teslas to charge. The existing Tesla supercharger map on the website already has a filter for superchargers open to non-Tesla. It's currently referring to magic docks but since they know where all their V3s and V4s are it'll be a cinch for them to include it in the filter

Edit; There is an EA station and EVGo station off 81 but that's ~80 miles away from that Supercharger

That EA and EVGo chargers are the two options for the trip without using Tesla chargers. I drive right past them.

I think it will be a little rough in the beginning with so many new users trying to figure out how it works. However, Tesla seems to be building new stations every month.

The biggest issue I see is ICE owners parking in the spot for charging. No fault of Tesla and I guess it's the land owners that have to really enforce the rules. No app or Tesla can make you aware if the spot is being used as parking by ICE vehicles until you get there.

Once towing is enforced for these parking offenses then it will probably be eliminated. Might not be a common issue but when it does occur it certainly is infuriating.

Thats the key, having lots of options makes that sort of thing less problematic. For instance if I drive by that EVGo charger in Harrisonburg, and people are parked at the EA charger in Staunton or theres a line or chargers aren't working, I'm in trouble. Less of an issue if I can hit one of the other 4 Superchargers along the route

I recently went through the process of buying a new pickup. I loved how the F-150 Lightning drove and had a GREAT price quote on a new '23 XLT ($62,490 MSRP for $46,490 after point of sale tax credit). However, after reading the many trials and tribulation of charging away from home, I decided that EV adoption, for me, is not yet in the cards as there are simply too many hassles, at least here in the Midwest. In a few years things should be much better. Ended up buying a Ridgeline RTL-E instead.

Tesla superchargers are generally from .33 cents to .44 cents per kWh here. My last trip to SoCal in my Model Y (380 miles) costed me $22.27. Had I taken my Sienna, it would have been around $70 for the same drive.

One thing I want to note, 80 percent of EV owners mainly charge at home and only use Superchargers while travelling. I charge 99 percent at home, my average cost per month is around $30. My IS350 on the other hand costed me about $70 a week Costco Premium
