no one believes tesla range numbers. i think it hurts their credibility.
I haven't paid enough attention to seeing the other manufacturers doing it (not saying you're wrong, I just haven't noticed). I do, however, remember when the early Taycans were dramatically exceeding the official estimates, their response was something to the effect of "We publish range figures based on the assumption that our cars are driven like Porsches. We expect that's how many of them will be driven much of the time, so we wanted to present the most accurate estimates possible."

Starts at $80K WLTP range of 310, but based off pre-production tests it'll likely outperform EPA ratings like the Taycan

I wonder if these will have even better discounts than the Taycan.
You can get used ones for nothing.

The ICE Macan will continue to be available and will be the “budget” option.

Used Taycans cost nothing? Interesting definition for cars that cost $100k CAD 😀

I live in US and not familiar with Canada market prices.

Plenty of Taycans 2-3yrs old with minimal miles “asking” in the 50s and 60s which is over 50% depreciation in 2-3 years!

You can get Huge discounts on new ones.

Cheapest Taycan I can find within 500 miles of central NJ is $61K on Autotrader. It's a 2021 with 41k miles. But this is a Macan thread so let's get back on topic

From what I've read so far, it's a pretty impressive product. I've always appreciated what Porsche has done with driving dynamics. It's not an "affordable everyday car" by any means but the build quality and the attention to the details are superb.

Watched the Savagegeese interview, and the engineering that went into it looks pretty impressive. One thing I notice, the low voltage battery looks like it's still a lead acid battery. Not sure why a company like Porsche doesn't go with a smaller, lighter, lithium Ion LV battery. These fail right and left and will leave you stuck

I was wrong, press release has WTLP range at 613KM or 380 miles! EPA range will be lower, but that's a lot of range out of 96kwh usable

With my right foot, that translates to about 300 miles . I'm pretty sure I could get that out the Macan, I get 260 miles out of my Y with a 81 kWh battery (75 kWh usable)....with my lead foot.

BTW, 3 miles per kWh is impressive if that's actually true

I believe Porsche has been using AGM batteries in their mass produced vehicles. 911GT3 and RS versions come equipped with lightweight lithium battery. They do have a pretty good BMS built in. My Macan is still on the original battery and I only use the battery tender once every 6 months on my GT4. But if you leave the car unlocked in your garage all the time and not drive much, the 12V battery might not last as long. Locking the car allows the system to go into deep sleep mode after a few hours, so there's no parasitic drain performing self checks every once in a while.
