Leased 2024 Audi Q8 E-Tron
Not a lot of threads about this car, and understandably, it's not particularly exciting or flashy like some of the other EVs out here. I have been thinking about what to buy recently to replace my 2017 Merc E300, but none of the other EVs have intrigued me. The Mercedes has been the least reliable vehicle I have owned, and getting up to 88K miles, the maintenance and repairs on it are shocking. In addition, that car's value has plummeted, carmax offering around 14,000 for it (purchased in 2016 as 2017 model year MSRP of 69K before discounts).
Anyway, my brother in law and sister have been looking at the Q8 E-tron, and we were able to get a great deal on 2 of them. At 82K MSRP for a premium plus model, we were able to discount it to less than 60K including all the Audi national incentives. Ended up with a Mythos black exterior on brown leather. What really interested me was the 2 years of free unlimited electrify America charging, which I live very close to.
Car drives well with great suspension and low road and wind noise. This will be a great commuter car. Compared to the Tesla model y in my family, this is a much more "normal" vehicle to drive. The regen breaking is really interesting, as you can set it to coast, all the way to regen more, (3 levels) but it never brings the car to the complete stop. There is a setting which I have enabled which will sense the car in front, and it will automatically decide to coast, or regen brake to keep the correct distance. This is not a one pedal driving car. The other thing I noticed is a louder motor whine than the Tesla but it doesn't really bother me. Coupled with that pedestrian noise, it sounds more space ship like and I was surprised how much you can hear it inside the cabin.
I have never owned an Audi but fit and finish seems great in some places, but cheaper plastics on the lower touch points. Ambient lighting is the one disappointing area where you only get white strips, can't change the colors so it's not as flashy as even my '17 Mercedes. Apparently you have to go to the prestige model if you want the fancier lighting. MMI system looks and feels a little outdated with its 2 screen setup but is still easy to use. Driver assistance is as advanced as the Mercedes, but requires you to touch the steering (capacitive) every 5 seconds or so otherwise it will give a warning. The Mercedes would not bother you for up to 45-1 minute sometimes.
It's been two days so I don't have all my thoughts gathered but just thought Id share what I feel is a great deal out there. Long story short, this does not feel like an 80K car, but if you can get it for 60K, it seems like the correct price point for this product.

2024 is the facelifted model. Prior years, this was just called the Audi E-tron and had 230 miles of range. With the update, they changed the name to Q8 E-tron and increased the battery size to 114 kw total capacity and useable around 108. Car is not super efficient, .29 CD, gets rated at 283 miles. 355hp in normal driving with available boost mode for limited time at 402 hp
More pics to come soon

Only issue I’m aware of is their dashboard was replaced this year due to moisture getting into the car.

Congrats - I see these around me pretty frequently. You picked a beautiful color combo. Audi executes so well on interior design. Enjoy it! Look forward to longer term ownership reviews.

Congrats! We have a 2022 e-tron S, Premium Plus and we love it. I wish I was able to get a discount when I purchased mine. Every dealer was asking between $10k to $15k markup at that time and we got ours at MSRP.
I'm surprised that the new PP package doesn't come with ambient lighting control. Ours comes standard. It is definitely not an efficient EV. You should drive the car with auto regen for a week and no regen (coast function) for another week for comparison. In my experience, the efficiency is better without the auto regeneration.
