Default Total Cost and Comparison Calculator for all Autos

I came across a fascinating calculator that not only helps you calculate the energy costs of electric vehicles versus the fuel costs of traditional gas-powered cars but also provides a comprehensive breakdown of the overall cost of ownership over a specific period. This takes into account your financed or leased vehicle and combines it with electric and fuel costs. The calculator is customizable and uses precise data points. I even plugged in my previous Lexus ES 350, my current MB EQS, and my personalized usage and leasing costs. I was incredibly intrigued and surprised, to say the least. As an example, I have provided my comparison. It's worth checking out!

You monthly fuel costs on the ES 350 was $86? That was almost my weekly cost for my IS350, and if my wife was currently driving the Sienna, that would be her weekly cost!

In comparison, my Monthly fueling costs for the Model Y is around $35, unless I have travel

That value was calculated by using 7500 yearly average mileage at 625 miles per month divided by 26 mpg combined fuel usage times $3.58 per gallon. So it looks like this.

7500 / 12 / 26 * 3.58
= 86.0576923076923

Although I aimed to be precise with my average usage, I selected an option based on my lease allotment since I no longer have my Lexus. Although it might have varied, in order to maintain consistency, I opted for this particular route.

interesting comparison showing you barely saved any money with the eqs suv.
however, imo, the eqs suv is a far nicer and more useful vehicle than the es350.

i just replaced my santa fe caligraphy with my ioniq 5 and i'm definitely saving money. my lease payment went up because i threw a 10k car into the mix on the santa fe lease.
that lease was $342 but adding the 10k spread over 3 years adds 278 for a total of 620. my ioniq 5 limited is less than that plus i save about $100 a month on gas.

Unless you are referring to your own comparison, the referenced comparison pertains to an EQS sedan, not an SUV. Barely saving any money with the EQS? If you compare a 2023 EQS sedan with an MSRP of $112,295 to a 2022 Lexus ES 350 Ultra Lux with an MSRP of $56k, I'm not sure what expectations one might have for savings, relatively speaking. It's worth noting that most EQSs like mine come with a hefty monthly lease payment of well over $1k, and some even go up to $1500 or more! But here's the thing - when I got my 22 ES, it was a special order in January of 22, and let me tell you, the rates were just terrible. However, I still managed to snag a HUGE discount and got it for a little over $47k, while most people were stuck paying ADMs or, at best, MSRP. So, when I compare my deal to the others, I feel pretty secure with the "minor savings" I got!😎😜😜😜😃😃🤔🤭

If I have misunderstood your post, please don't hesitate to let me know. 😊😀

This has probably been mentioned many times in other threads, but I don't think any of us on this forum bought an EV to save money. That was especially true last year. But if you want to see actual comparisons, you have to do an apples to apples comparison. Two cars that are similarly priced, are in the same segment, and compete. For example my Polestar, it's closest competitor in price is a Lexus IS350. The Polestar is so much cheaper to own over 5 years. If I go with performance, it's closest competitor is an M3, where I kill it when comes to ownership costs

I'm sure you all can understand that my intention was not to compare them, as that would be unrealistic. It was merely for the sake of entertainment, and yet, I found it quite amusing to discover that I may not be too far off in terms of saving money with my current vehicle situation.

I understand your point perfectly! Sometimes, we tend to prioritize our own needs over the environment. However, it's important to acknowledge that we all have a little bit of a 'selfish fossil' inside us. Buying a Mercedes EQS solely for energy efficiency and cost savings is like wearing a tuxedo to a pool party - it might look fancy, but it's definitely not the most practical choice.

In the same way, buying an expensive Mercedes EV just to save money and contribute to conservation might not be the most practical choice. It's like trying to improve gas mileage on a car that's already driving off a cliff. While it might make you feel better, it's not going to do much good in the end.

GLE350/450 and X5 40i are also around 25ish. GLS450, X7 40i are low 20s.

how much do you drive? Do you have a really low electric rate? That seems very low.

Not really. There's the cost of the panels, and shorter days so I'm pulling more and more from the grid

ah sorry, i thought you had the suv.

good point. i did say the eqs is far nicer than the lexus es, so yes, if even similar cost, the eqs is a huge step up.

Because if you generate more than you use, you receive credits, which covers your usage when you are not generating. Last year the amount of electricity I generated between May through August covered the whole year. At "True-up", I had an over $600 credit.

As an example, if I generate 60 kWh during sunlight hours and only use 40 kWh for the day, I have 20 kWh surplus that I get credits for
