Default rear view mirror compass

i just bought a 2011 es 350 and noticed the inside rearview mirror does not have the compass letters that my 2002 es had. the kbb website lists the mirror compass as standard equipment onthe 2011 es350,however the window sticker on my car just states a electrochromatic day/night mirror. i would like to hear from other owners before going to the dealership.

It's there, but can be turned on and off. Press the button on the mirror labeled AUTO and hold for 3 seconds. Note, this information is located in your owner's manual. However, I believe that on all '11 model Lexus vehicles with navigation, the mirror may no longer contain the compass, since it's redundant with the information on the nav. screen.

JWR. If your ES has a nav system, it will not have the compass in the mirror. You may have found that out by now.

It seems that the decontenting at Lexus continues. Even the new LS with navigation omits the compass in the rear view mirror. While one can figure out direction from the nav system by noting the direction of the triangular location pointer when the map is in "north up" mode, it's much less obvious what direction you're going when the map is in the other (forward up?) mode. It's much easier and quicker to glance at the the mirror indicator.

Our '07 ES350 had memory settings for both the driver and passenger front seats. The '10 just has it for the drivers seat only.

Not a big deal for us but another example of decontentning.

Not really - in '07 the ES had a Premium Package that included leather, driver's memory seats and another couple of small features. The Premium Plus Package added ventilated leather, driver's and passenger's memory seats and a bit more stuff than the Premium. In your '10 model both leather and the driver's memory seat were standard (content added). No more Premium or Premium Plus Packages. Ventilated leather was only available as a stand alone option, and the only way to get memory seats on both sides is with the Ultra Luxury Package. So they added content, they did not remove it. As far as the compass is concerned, I have it with my Nav, I like it, but it's not a big deal. And, IMHO, memory on the passenger's seat is kind of silly. I have it, but my wife doesn't, and it's not missed on her car.
