The other day when I was driving home from the office I was thinking Lexus could bring the Camry Solara over to the Lexus side and make it an ES 350 C, basically an ES coupe. Make it a fixed hardtop and I think it could do well.
Also Lexus should produce an ES 450h (use the RX 450h's hybrid drivetrain). Expanding the ES line would take the ES to the next level.

The chrome on the GS and LS looks more thought out...from what I can see in these (low quality, not the best) pictures, the chrome on the ES looks like an afterthought.
As for the wheels, the Southeast Toyota dealers have been offering a rim identical to that one on the Camry for the last few years. It's offered as an aftermarket dealer option and the wheel is made by Enkei. While I do see that it looks similar to the old IS wheels, considering the ES's similarities to the Camry and these wheels which now look identical, it's too close of a resemblance IMO.

oh god
what have they done?
they butchered the sleek lines of the current model.
what's up with that little indentation in the headlamps? it doesn't look sleek anymore.
They Acura-RL-ified this whole car. The grille looks disgustingly chunky, and cheapens the whole look.
and that front bumper refresh just doesn't flow.
it looks cheap compared to the current one. looks more like a toyota now.
I am not surprised that lexus uglified this refresh, seeing what they did with the GS and the bird beak.
now let's see how they uglied up the LS..
it will still sell a ton though. too bad. they could've made a better looking front bumper.

What was added up front are vertical lines, which are not present on the current model. I don't see it as bad or good, but I garantee we will all get used to it. I remember when this current gen debuted, there was the exact same comments flowing. (Now we all love that model.)
Something to ponder... It's hard to embrace change. I'm guilty of this too. But after following the auto industry for nearly 30 years, I've learned not to judge a new design until I've seen it out on the road for a few months. 9 times out of 10, I'll warm up to it.

This is from the 'mouth' of ConsumerGuide, take it for what it's worth:
The 2010 Lexus ES 350 should see no major changes. ES is essentially a luxury version of the Toyota Camry. ES 350 will likely remain powered by a 272-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine. The sole transmission should be a 6-speed automatic. Available safety features should include ABS, traction control, an antiskid system, curtain side airbags, front and rear side airbags, and front knee airbags. Lexus' Pre-Collision System, which readies airbags, seatbelts, and brakes when sensors detect a skid or imminent crash, should remain optional. It would continue to be paired with adaptive cruise control. Wood interior trim and a sunroof should remain included and leather upholstery should remain optional. Other options should include the Ultra Luxury Package with a "panorama" glass roof, a navigation system with a rear view camera, and steering-linked headlamps. The Pebble Beach Edition option package should return. It should include heated and cooled front seats and specific interior and exterior trim. This report is based on evaluations of the 2009 Lexus ES 350.

Lexus has officially launched the facelifted ES350 and ES240 (0-100km/h in a claimed 10.4 secs) in China yesterday. Unfortunately the grille is body-colored indeed.

Nice to see that they added a bar of wood by the glove box. The car sorely needed that.
Other than that, this refresh looks much worse than before. By adding the chrome trim to the sides of the car they broke up the smooth flow that it had before. For some reason, these small changes make the car look 10 years old to me.

There is an ad for the 2010 ES350 on kbb.com. Among other things, the following features are listed: Lexus Enform and Safety Connect, XM NavTraffic and XM NavWeather, and "redesigned interior and exterior".
I see that they have finally got rid of the cassette deck!

I would say it's another one of those different just to be different facelifts. Not that it's neccessarily better. I do like the additional wood... even if it's a darker shade than before.

Well I guess seeing is believing. I just posted a comment that there would be no change for the 2010. Got the article from Stevinson Lexus in Fredrick, CO. I may have to eat crow.....this does look like the real deal, although IMO they should have kept the grill the same as the 07-09 models, and fog lights look really dorky IMO. My sales-consultant said that if there are any changes in 2010, I will get an 'official' notice in the mail from Lexus. So, I'm waiting....
