I had my '07 ES350 in the dealership today for warranty service on a stubborn rattle and while the technician was riding with me to listen for the rattle, he asked if I knew about this secret screen in the Navigation system. Of course I didn't. Apparently the screen can show the status of different systems on the car and is used by dealerships to check codes and possible errors. I thought he accessed the screen by pressing Menu, Volume and then tapping the left top and bottom of the screen twice. Twice on top and twice on bottom. When I got home I tried this on just about every screen I could think of but I couldn't get it to work.
I know there are Lexus technicians who read this forum, can you please tell me how to bring up this screen? I just want to see it again.
Thank you, JWE
Lisa, I tried your sequence but I still can't get it to work. Do you have to tap quickly or slow, press lightly or firmly? Do you touch the screen at the very edges right up against the frame of the screen top and bottom?
Thanks for your help. JWE
Hold down the info button or display(i think its any navi button) and then flicker your lights on and off. Keep doing that untill the secret screen comes on, iv done it a few times and i wouldnt mess with any settings. You wont understand much unless your tech.
Chances are you aren't doing it right...for whatever reason. Watch this video to see it in action. BTW don't worry about the model car in the video, the process is the same for your car.
Thanks for the youtube link, I watched the video and touched the screen just like was shown, but it still doesn't work. My Navi version is 0.6.1
I'm about ready to give up, its not that important anyway. I just can't understand how the mechanic got it to work and I can't. I watched him do it so I know it's possible. JWE
I can access the diagnostic menu on my '08 ES 350 without any problems.
Press DISP > Press upper left, lower left, upper left, lower left and the menu comes up. You have to press in the area within the horizontal black bars.

Thanks EmJayES and everybody who responded, but still no luck. I've got to take the car back to the dealership Tuesday because when the technician stuffed padding or felt in the left corner of the moonroof to quiet a rattle, he accidently bent the sheet metal on the roof. It is a small high place from the inside out, Dent Wizard should be able to knock it back down. Anyho, I'll see if someone can get the service screen to work on my car while I'm there. JWE
Hi EmJayES,
I tried your instructions. One thing I wanted to point out was that when I press DISP I see the two horizontal bars, but the lower left has the - button for adjusting contrast there. No real room for pressing anything else but that button.
Any other instructions? I have DVD version .07.1, and I have a 2008 ES350. Thanks in advance!!!!
Good job on the help above!!!

Hi Quatman67,
Any luck on getting to the diag menu? ust checking. I recently a 2008 ES350 and I would love to override the Nav nanny feature. Thanks in advance!
I can get to it on my 08' Lexus ES350 w/Nav but it's just the diagnostics screen and there isn't a option to 'override'. I had this same feature on my 06' ES330 adn I loved it...unfotunately Lexus has taken it away in the 08 models??
I got into the diag screen tonight as well. As sk72 mentions, no override. However, I have been researching on this forum as well as others to gain more insight into this problem.
I noticed something in the diag screen. There is a screen that allows you to see the states of various vehicle sensors and indicators. One is the PBK - the parking brake. When I looked at it, the status was OFF. When I pushed the pbk in, the status switched to ON. Here is my thought. Ideally it would be nice to be able to patch the Nav software in such a way as to set the PBK status to ON whenever you want to. That would supply a signal back to the Nav that tells it the car is parked, even though it isn't. I don't know what the logic is within the Nav unit when the speed wire is active and yet the parking brake status is ON - perhaps it will still work? - but setting that status to ON may just be enough to disable the nanny features. That same process would allow one to tell the Nav system that the car was in reverse to turn on the backup camera. There is an indicator for reverse as well (should be - that would tell the Nav unit to switch on the camera).
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
