Has anyone ordered Remote Starter on their car and how do you like it so far?

I live in a cold region of the US and thinking this might be a good option to add so it'd be easier to sufficiently heat up the engine and fluids before driving.

I did NOT order it because I read on the forums that it only has a range of 25-35 feet, without obstructions, less range than third party solutions. People said they had to step outside their front door to use it. Kinda defeats the purpose, right ?

I had the Lexus remote starter installed and posted on it a while back. The range is extremely poor, especially when an aftermarket remote starter will give you much greater range at a fraction of the price. The only pro is that the Lexus remote starter is integrated into the existing key fob.

Thanks for the feedback! Looks like I'll try to go after market for this.

Will installing a third party remote starter void the warranty?

Opinion re: remote start: I have it on a 2010 RX450h - never used it. On our ES300h, it did not come with the car, but doubtful we would use it, either.

However, the remote start seems to work at quite a distance (all the way to the street from the inside of the house) - I did not experiment in an office environment / building - so it might be useful in some cases for those inclined to warm up the vehicle before getting in. A nice feature: It will automatically shut down the engine after about five minutes of inactivity, so chances of asphyxiation are minimized, if parked in a home garage (not a good idea to do this, though).

I had an aftermarket RS installed into my 2013 ES back in 2013... The range was about twice that of the Lexus factory RS and it was integrated into the factory key fob.
The cost was under $300.00 installed.... Lexus, if I remember correctly, wanted around $700.00 installed by the dealer... Some members of the forum installed one themselves for under $100.00. Good ones are out there and once installed no yearly or monthly fees unless you use a smartphone...

You may want to consider Viper or Compustar Remote Start system. Personally I have used Viper RS/Alarm system in my/wifes' last 6 cars and they are solid in reliability if installed correctly (I always use Authorized Reseller/Installer). Range is unbelievable. Cost is reasonable at $550-600 installed.

You already have one. You just need to pay Lexus to use it.

Yep. I used the Lexus Enform app for a month (that was Aug.2017) and hated it. Slow in response and the app crashes sometimes. After installing Viper RS/Alarm system and delete it the Enform app right away. I wouldn't use it if was free for life. The only thing I like the app is it will tell you how much fuel is left in the tank and which door/window is open.

Hopefully Lexus has improve the app reliability.
