Default fuel injection cleaner

I've written in about my check engine trac off light on before. the code from autozone says it is a knock sensor issue. however it is located under the manifold. Before I proceed on this I was wondering. How safe is it to use fuel injector cleaner from autozone. Anyone tried using cleaner? I've been using premium unleaded gas from sams. thank you for your input.

You can use the cleaner from the zone without any problems........ I use BG fuel system cleaner (tough to find for the consumer) and it works well for all my vehicles.

Was there a resolution to this?

I'm curious because I come from the forced induction arena and know the importance of resolving knock issues ASAP. What's odd to me, from what you've described so far, is that you're running premium fuel and still experiencing knock. That, in itself, is fairly rare.

Also, I would look into the air flow on the motor. Is your O2 sensor faulty? How's the intake? If the motor can't breathe, it will KR and draw timing to protect itself.

I once used the Chevron Techron additive to my 2000 ES 300 (about 80K miles at the time) gas tank, because I thought it would clean something and give a little better mileage.
My engine started idling very low and would stall in the mornings, after that
I had to take it in to a dealer and do the fuel system service with throttle body cleaning to recover.

Just my $0.02

In my city, I have known of two people who use Sam's Club gas that has damaged their engines from added water. Both ended up with a rebuilt engine and one of the cars was a 2012 Carolla. Not saying that your Sam's is the same way, but I refuse to run it through my car.

Nothing wrong with Techron. Been using it for years and never had a problem.

Sorry, but I do not buy this story even a little bit. Did you add Techron according to the directions? Why did you add it? Where you already having a problem you were trying to solve with Techron? Your dealer hosed you good with the fuel system/throttle body cleaning service. Did they provide free Vaseline?

No noticeable problems with the ES300 at the time before I used the Techron additive. Could it have dissolved/dislodged some gunk that clogged something along the way?

About a year later, I had to replace the airflow(?) and knock sensors in the car. So maybe something was dying already.

How much did your gas mileage improve as a result of the Techron additive?

Interestingly, I use Chevron gasoline these days (used Shell for quite a while) with my LS430.
