235/40R20 (dia. 27.4") should work.
Through my research I've seen 235/50R18 (27.3"), here or here.
Or even 245/40R20 (27.7") on Camry
But someone with 245/45R19 (27.7" too) reports slight rubbing, also on Camry.
What's difficult to tell is how hard the suspension was pushed when people report that it works.

Yet the only one with 16" wheels is the only one providing meaningful information 
But if you want to go that way, I can say that to me it makes no sense to make a boat sedan more sporty.
Why would you do that and not just start with car geared towards sport? You'd start from closer to your goal.
In my case I wanted a comfortable car, so I chose a base close to my goal.
