To me the trickiest part is going to be enabling "Parking Brake Maintenance Mode" without an expensive scanner.
I've read frustrated reports of people trying to get the manual procedure to work (operating the parking brake lever) and ending up with a "see dealer" warning light or "parking brake disabled" message.

Several on-line videos show you how…do not need expensive scanner.

Right, I posted one of those videos above.
The problem is there are subtle variations in the instructions and I have not found an official "Toyota" procedure.
Even the CCN admits its a "fidgety" procedure and may need to be repeated more than once.
High guys new here but def not to automotive 35 plus years.I do auto on the side Yeah even lexus.I dropped right at $380.00 out the door( amazon) on a Xtool D7S.Yes it does all the fancy e brake, abs bleeds and my favorite immo set up.Really while trying to get around a Tool to reset things I would def invest in 1.I did compare topdon and launch. On those liked the x431 launch topdon artidiag800bt. Xtool did more for the same cost or had Better special functions 36 to be exact. When it comes to brake caliper mount bolts I skip torqueing.I hand tighten same for slide pins.Granted maybe not the ( by the book) its all thats needed in my experience.I understand not protocol and some are stickers on its fine or no way, torque it.

I've seen some crazy variations in torque specifications for bolts on caliper mounting brackets (Lexus calls them DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING) even on the same car front vs rear.
7th Gen ES shows 79 ft lbf for front and rear. It can be challenging sometimes to fit a torque wrench in there on some of them, especially a beam style.
I suppose the scan tool could pay for itself if it avoids having to go to the dealer to clear a fault code while doing the brakes or if you have trouble getting into maintenance mode.

Yes only for the rear. You can damage the actuator if you don't put the rear brakes in maintenance mode before attempting to retract the piston.
Last I checked, each actuator was around $1K
