Default Question on Wheel Replacement

When I bought my 2021 ES 350 Base w Premium Package and other options in February, 2021,I was told that 18” Noise reduction wheels were never included with the Base that year and couldn’t be purchased as an option for that model. Can I now buy a brand new set of those OEM Lexus wheels from a Lexus dealers parts department, brand new, and change them out without any complications regarding TPM, brakes, speedometer, odometer, etc.?
I see refurbished OEM sets for sale from companies in that business. They are claimed to be “like new” and about $1,000 less than brand new. If the merchant is reputable, is this a viable option?

I believe you need to do something for TPM, but it's not complex. I believe there are no changes for speedo/odo.

I have the noise reduction wheels and recommend them.

Hope you’re enjoying them. Just found out the wheels, installed, would cost me $4000.00. Total of $5,000 with the new tires. I think I’ll survive with my 17” wheels!

You can change your wheels without any complications. Also, you can put the TPMS sensors from the wheels you have now to the new ones. 1 min process per sensor.
You can get them used from Ebay.

New ones:

Wheels with 100 miles on them:

You did well. My dealership wanted over $900 per wheel, plus tax, shipping and then I’d have expense in installing, adjust TPM, etc., new tires with mounting, spin balance, etc. Whole deal would be about $5,000!
I decided my 17” don’t look that bad, after all!🥴

I have been working with Lexus for over 30 years, specifically with wheels. Those 18" Noise reduction wheels will work just fine. I have seen a few ES350 come through the dealerships with those on them. Feel free to reach back out if you have any other question.

Thank you. Question: To what extent, if any, is the quality of the smooth ES 350 ride compromised by the increased tire size?

17" to 18" hard to believe you'll even notice.

According to the Tire Size Comparison Calculator, you loose 0.5 inches going from (ES OEM sizes) 17 inch to 18 inch wheels and tires and 1.0 inches from 17 inch to 19 inch wheels and tires.

Considering the difference in recommended inflation pressure, in tire construction between manufactures and tire types, and in wheel and tire weights, I think you would need one of those "in the weeds" controlled, repeatable factors testing studies to have a truly objective evaluation of the differences in passenger perceived ride quality.

Found a company on line that sells refurbished Lexus wheels for about half the cost of new ones. Has anyone ever bought remanufactured or refurbished wheels. I wonder how well it’s worked out. They claim the appearance is perfect and like new. I worry if they had been damaged in a collision could they perform erratically or be vulnerable to damage or failure. Anyone else ever try these from any company for any car?

I had a cracked wheel repaired and it's been perfect ever since.
