New 2022 ES300h Luxury problem with seat memory
Just took delivery of a 2022 ES 300h Luxury. This is our 5th ES since 2007 but the first hybrid. We are having a terrible time trying to get the drivers seat memory to take. We've tried everything that the manual says to do but after we program one key and lock the car after exiting and then go back with a different key when we unlock the door the seat doesn't go back to the position set for that key. It doesn't move. We have turned off the feature for easy exit so the seat doesn't move when we put the car into park and undo the seat belt. I'm sure that it must be something simple and we're just being stupid and not doing something we should be doing. Never had the problem with any of our other ES's. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance. |

Thanks in advance. In brief, there's a good chance that not all the pre-delivery services (Seating Position Control ECU Initialization can be one of them) were performed. I haven't been able to find a 2022 version, but here's a NHTSA filed 2021 ES 250, ES 300h, ES 350 Pre-Delivery Service (PDS) example. If this is the root cause of the issue, I suggest you have the dealer double check everything else that's supposed to be accomplished for pre-delivery servicing to ensure nothing else was overlooked. |
I had a 2021 es300h and now 2022 es350 and both had this issue that cannot program seat memory buttons. Dealer said the seat memory controller needed to be programmed itself and after they did it fixed it. Baffles me that so many of new ESs suffer from this issue

Thank you very much.

I had the same problem a month into my 2022 ES UL. I did the full Toyota seat reprogramming (available in lots of videos on line) that just took a few minutes. Basically, with the car running, you will move the seat in each direction it goes, from stop to stop (such as full forward and backward, full up and down, etc.) pausing at the end of travel each time until you feel a bump or hear a noise. It fixed mine right away and hasn't been a problem since.

I had the same problem, and the dealer fixed it in a quick visit.

Sounds like your dealer did not do their pre delivery inspection properly.
You should write a letter of complaint to Lexus Corporate. This is what reduces Lexus ratings in surveys like JD Power and Consumer rankings. PDS Service: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...81797-9999.pdf PDS Inspection Check List (older model but would be the same for this): https://testing-public.carmd.com/Tsb.../L-PDSB-0294-D Memory seats are always part of PDI. |

2. Dealer not doing their job fully (prep should have caught this) |
If you check Rav4 (and likely camry etc) forums, they have the same issues. Always check the base Toyota forums if you have issues w/ the ES because by volume, more cars, more experience/posts. Camry/Rav4 bones/wiring/structure etc are nearly identical inside and out aside from trim and aesthetics.

Yeah I didn't check Camry, but Rav4 forum and found the complaints. I know in ROW, Camry has all the luxury features (and more) than the ES has. So the problem would pop up there too. =)
Edit: here's a post showing 2022 Camry has memory seats. It's RHD, so ROW. Not sure to what extent other countries got it. But it's worth a shot due to the sheer volume of Camrys. Basically my point is Check all TNGA models. |
Thank you to everyone that chimed in on this. I appreciate everyone that took the time to respond to this. I''ve made an appointment to go back to the dealer tomorrow morning to have this taken care of.
I would like to make a comment about one of the replies... I've been a Lexus customer since 2007 and this is my 6th new Lexus. I discovered long ago that Lexus corporate takes customer problems very seriously. They have done some great things for me over the years to make sure that I was happy. So has my dealer. They're great. Great management, great techs., and great concern in a market that has several Lexus dealerships. My dealer received 302 Lexus vehicles to be used at courtesy cars at the U.S. Open Golf Tournament in Brookline, MA last month. Each of those vehicles had go thru the P.D.I. process at the dealership before being delivered to the golfers and I can absolutely understand how the memory seats could've somehow been overlooked during the process. Should be an easy fix, no big deal, just a little bit of time. This is NOT something to complain to corporate about. I've developed a very good relationship at this dealership over the years. They know me and call me by my first name. If I have a question or a problem or a concern they take of it right away. I respect that. I do thank everyone that replied to my original concern very much. Now, the 2022 ES 300h Luxury is a great car after 5 days of driving it around ( save for the seat memory). Takes very little time to adjust to the hybrid and it rides beautifully. We've had gray/silver cars for the last 10 years. Really sick of that at this point. We were set on the Sunlite Green exterior with the Palomino with brown trim interior. It looks fantastic. Absolutely beautiful. Car was used by one of the golfers during the open and had 232 miles on it when delivered to me. Really a great car. Thanks again to all. |

I was able to correct the memory seat function myself by following the advice posted in this thread. I started the car, got out, moved the seat all the way up, then down, then front and back. I heard a little click (I think) and now my memory seat functions works great. Just do it yourself, it takes 1 minute. |

I have similar issues with my LC500h, I have had the seat memory reprogramed/reset by the dealer which fixed the issue but it did not last for long. My seat goes back when I exit and on entering returns to previous position but pressing any of the seat memory position d
