The car is rattle free, but the center console squeaks and creaks when warm (65+ degrees) outside. I get the squeaks when the car is moving and while not touching the console and it squeaks as well as the lid/arm rest. I am looking for advice to remedy the squeaks and how to remove the console should it be necessary. I look forward to your comments. Thank you.

I had the exact same issues with my center console on my 19' Lux. that started a few months in the first year. The service dept. took two visits to resolve the issue. They used some type of insulation or deadening material I believe. My 22' doesn't suffer from this issue but I'm betting it's a common occurrence in the 19' IMO. I would advise against removing the console as if it looks as though it's been altered, they may not deem it to be repairable under any type of warranty. I'm not sure if this is a CPO or you've had it since new. Others I've spoken with regarding their 19's have had similar issues early on.

Thank you 19ES350lux for the feedback. My car is the lux version as well. Took to the dealer for this once already and they "could not duplicate" which was a disappointing response. However, I think it was to cool outside which contributed to the their comment. Right now I'm 50/50 on whether I try to fix it or wait until summer when it will present itself without a problem. I was considering maybe using felt depending on what I found should I be able to take it apart.

What you could do when the ambient temperature outside is too low is heat your car up until it gets really warm and see if you can get it to duplicate then. If it's warmer outside but not warm enough, this should do the trick. It did for me.
Also, when the car was REALLY cold the center console would squeak then too.
It's easy. take a jewler's screwdriver, undo all the screws on the bottom side of the console ( you have to tilt your seat back to get to the ones in the back) and pull up using your fingers on the top lid. find all contact points and wrap in insulting tape. find the tape on ebay. (it's furry) you can use other felt tape or soft fabric tape as well. reassemble.
Good idea on warming the car up. It doesn't do it when cold. I think the expansion when warm is the culprit. Contraction when cold keeps parts from rubbing together.
E46CT, thanks for the advice. I have felt tape coming from Amazon and will follow your suggestions. I will let you and 19ES350lux know what happens when I work on it this weekend.
It'll only take 5 minutes or so. don't plan on spending a lot of time. it's super easy.
while you're at it you may want to remove the driver and passenenger inner knee pads. big squeak culprits. easy to do. they'll squeak when taking off and braking.
i discovered both fixes for the community. see earlier posts last year.
Thanks for the extra info E46CT. I do think the knee pads are squeaking too. Do they slide off or pull out?
both. if you hear a creak from the console from gentle acceleration and gentle braking, it's the knee pads. the factory did insulate them but not enough. i guess that tape is expensive..
I’ve had my new 300h for 3 months.. I noticed this annoying creaking sound coming from center dash area when I accelerate from a stop (slow or fast) and braking to a stop (when the vehicle is almost brought to a standstill). I did not notice it until recently and am wondering if it’s due to weather getting warmer.. I know it sounds dumb but can’t figure out what else could cause this crackling/creaking noise… assuming this is not JUST a 300h problem and should I push my dealer to take the dash apart and insulate as suggested in this thread?
Well I took apart the arm rest and taped it up as well as the 2 knee pads and improvements were made. The big squeak left I think is where the console connects under the dash. I'm not sure if the console connects to the dash or to floor. This happens at acceleration or braking without me touching the console. It also occurs whenever the car flexes such as braking or turning corners. Any advice on how to address or get at this part of the console to quiet it?
it's probably the radio and/or hvac control assemblies. they're made of hard thin plastics. on my first ES i completely stripped down these units and insulated them. my 2nd ES has been whisper quiet for these two items. thankfully!
i had the hvac controls stripped down to the circuit boards and the radio too. . took a lot of brain storming to solve the issue. put it all back together perfectly and no more noise.
Not sure what to tell you. The car is under warranty so having the dealer deal with it makes sense. I did try the dealer one time and they really couldn't get it to act up as I may have taken it when it was colder outside. Just make sure the car is doing it on the day you take it in.
