Default New ES 350 - Build Schedule?

Hello all.

A family member has been trying to get an ES350, and the dealership called her about a 2022 model in production with a temporary VIN. It is *exactly* what they want and have put down a deposit on it because the things are selling like crazy. The dealership says it is secured in her name and sent her a sales receipt showing the temporary VIN.

Per my understanding of Toyota/Lexus build process, the temporary VIN indicates the vehicle was on the build schedule for Week 36 (Digits 12-13 of temp VIN).
That would correspond with the calendar week if Sept 6-12, but I don't know how that might reconcile with their build calendar.

Can anyone offer any insights on when Production Week 36 would actually fall, and how long it might reasonably take from production to arrival? The 350 is made in the Kentucky plant and will be heading here to the Midwest US, so that would seem to me to be a pretty clean shot down I-40...

Any other details I could relay to them? They're really excited about getting this, as their existing car is 16 years old and on its last legs LOL.

THanksDave

I was also looking for ES 350 2022. Am I correct that one has to pay sticker price in the current market while reserving a VIN?

Many if not most Lexus dealers have gone to a "no-haggle" pricing model.

The family member I refer to above was given an MSRP (sticker) agreement from the dealership with her deposit, less any incentives that may apply.

Must admit I'm a little surprised I've not been able to get any info on this. Anyone with any current info on 2022 Es350 builds at the Georgetown KY Toyota plant? Only things I've been able to find are really stale. Thanks either way, just curious.

What are you trying to find out? A time frame from allocation to production? From my inventory ES's that have just been flipped into allocation for me are EXPECTED production 10/5-10th. When they are produced it'll normally take 2-3 weeks to get to the dealership. At least for my location.

Idk if it matters but I manage new car inventory for a Lexus dealer, so if you need more information please feel free to PM me

Thanks! I was just trying to find out when a Week 36 build would actually end up being produced, then rough transit time guess. My thought was it has already been built, but could have been delayed.

Yeah now a days it is hard to get exact times, we always work in relative estimates however I would say as a for warning expect delays considering everything that is going on lol

Well, let me ask you this - if your were putting on your best "relative estimate" hat on, when might your expect a week 36 build to, well, actually get built?

The car I posted here about finally came in, and it is perfect. My mom took delivery yesterday and she just loves it.

Thanks all.

Can the dealer make minor changes to an allocation like change the exterior and interior color combination of the car when they get the news from Lexus that they’re getting an allocation “before” their allocation is built?? What I mean is say that a customer put $1,000 deposit down payment for a Matador Red Mica ES350 Ultra Luxury fully loaded with the Palomino interior and the Triple-Beam LED Headlamps and with the Color Rear Spoiler. Can the Lexus dealer request Lexus to “tailor build” the car with this specific exterior and interior color combination and with the options before this allocation is built that their customer requested?? I’m unclear about this. I’m hoping that the dealer can do this. I’m having a hard time getting a straight answer about this.

I put a $1,000 deposit down on February 7th for a Matador Red Mica fully loaded 2022 ES350 Ultra Luxury with the Palomino interior and with the Color Rear Spoiler, the Triple-Beam LED Headlamps, the Panoramic Glass Roof and everything else that comes with this car. When it’s time for my Lexus dealer to get an Ultra Luxury allocation from Lexus, can they request that this particular car be built for me in the color combination and with all the options that I want? I do “NOT” want a different exterior and interior color combination or any missing options on my Ultra Luxury other than what I requested that I want when I gave the $1,000 deposit to the dealer. I told them that I want this exact color combination and exact options that I requested. Will the dealer be able to get Lexus to make the “adjustments” and build my car how I requested it “before” my car is built when the dealer gets the notification for their Ultra Luxury allocation? Can the dealer make these adjustments so I can get what I want?

I bought my UL similarly by reserving and allocation and the answer is no! Dealers should take the allocation/spec as is and no changes possible. At least this was true as of last month.
