Poll: 7ES drivers, are you iPhone or Android? (Fun Friday question)
Not intended to start a war, and I trust we won't since we're mature ES owners =D
But since Lexus put resources into ensuring both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, would be interesting to see which is getting used more in our cars. I love my iPhone 12 Pro but what I don't like is having to juggle all sorts of cables then ensure I also have Lightning cables in various sizes. I envy USB-C. I have endless amounts of USB-C cables but seems I never have enough Lightning cables...

I have an Android phone but Lexus has chosen not to include AA on the 2019 MY cars. Not to worry for me because I don't use the phone while driving as I want to stay focused. All calls wait until I'm safely parked/stopped...
Re talking while driving, as long as its hands free I don't have a problem with it. Talking to passengers is seen as fine so I don't see hands-free as different.
Besides I like using ACP for navigation, spotify. It's fun to just have the map up showing where you are in real time. Would be so perfect if wireless.

I use CarPlay a lot (mostly music and navigation). I just wish there was a better place for the phone. I don’t like the little drop slot, as I use a wallet case and have to remove the case. When it’s bare, the phone rocks back and forth and knocks against the sides. I tried self-adhesive felt. It helps a little, but not totally. And there isn’t a good spot to mount it elsewhere.
What I’d love to do is relocate the CarPlay/Android USB slots to the inside of the console. That would be perfect!

You left my option off the list -- BOTH!
My regular cell phone is Android. When I bought my 2019 ES two years ago, it only had CarPlay. So, I bought an iPhone just for the car. One of the best decisions I ever made. I have lightening cable with a 90 degree USB plug permanently plugged in with the wire routed to the center console glove box. I can either leave the iPhone in the glove box or take it with me whenever I want.

Yeah I want to de-clutter my ES as well. The phone/wire management is all around a poor design.
1) The wireless charger option is horribly located. It takes up half the center storage bin and lets face it why would I want to lock my phone in a bin to charge it where it can't be seen or used. I want to take this wireless charger out and chuck it somewhere. Not sure how it's secured and I really don't want to snap it off. Or do I? LOL
2) The drop slot is sort of cool but it's hard plastic and the phone rattles around. To top it off, it hides behind the drink. Who designed this? Can he be fired please? Or at the very least, re-assigned to the sticker dept.?
3) The ports. Dumb location. Why would the ports be face up... next to the cup holder where liquid can spill on it. It's only a matter of time. Also why would the CarPlay ports be assigned to this area. It's impossible to use these features in this car and have the interior look good at the same time. Also--why USB-A, and not USB-C -- Lexus remind me what year are we in again?
I plan to relocate the ports, but I have to tear everything apart and see how it's wired and stuff. A project for another day. I hope someone beats me to it and does the heavy lifting!

Gotta have my starbucks every morning to stay sane, but i'm super careful and never spill. I do gotta give it to Lexus for our excellent adjustable cupholder. Love the little door that allows you to resize it.

I wash and detail the interior nearly every week.
