Tire Recognition After Rotation
Hello, All.
I’m a DIY guy and have a question about tire rotation. Will the computer automatically know the new position of each tire after rotation? In other words, would my TPMS alert accurately know if I moved the front left to the rear left? If not, do I need to “Initialize” or “re-register codes” - the manual is confusing.
Thanks!

I just rotated the tires myself and had the same confusing experience, but it all worked out. After rotating the tires you are going to get that yellow tire symbol with the exclamation point inside it. Check the pressures so you know the tires are at the pressure recommended on the door jamb regardless of what the monitoring system says. On page 321 of the manual it talks about having to initialize the tire pressure warning system after rotating tires. I did that and drove around for a half hour. The light didn't go out and pressures did not display. The next day I drove it to work, about a 45 minute drive, and at the end of the drive I noticed the light went out and the pressures showed up in the display.
There might be a way to get it to display right away after rotation, but I was not able to make that happen.
There is another procedure for registering ID codes but they say that applies only when a transmitter is replaced with a new one.
