Default Clock Issue

I have a 2020 ES350 with Nav. Every time I start the car the minute hand spins to 12 and then back to correct time. Can’t get an answer from anyone why it does this . Please help. TY

It's something that's just engineered into the car for the wow factor. To me it makes it a cool feature. I'm all for it as long as it's working properly.

My 2020 F Sport does it. The clock works so I just assume it’s supposed to do that as a way to ensure its set itself according to the current time.

They do that extra wear and tear so the clock will fail at the 49th month.

Default Update from poster

Just got the verdict from the dealer. The clock should not do that. It was some thing with the radio. They replaced the radio and it no longer does that. Apparently Lexus corporate is aware of the issue but they likely won’t do anything unless the customer complains. Not sure if this would have any long-term issues and possibly cause more issues after warranty, but I’m glad they did it. TY

Was it ML or standard? Do they have to do major dash removal? Glad it's working the way my '19 has been from the start.

So you are saying your clock is now rock solid? My 2020 ES300h with nav and ML has always reset itself when car is turned on. I always figured it was checking to make sure time is correct. I am going to call tech dept to see if their is a problem

Is that clock not fully electronic/digital? ie...a computer "display" rather than mechanical hands? In which case it would be no different than the digital dashboards that "sweep" the gauges to 100% and then back to actual reading when the ignition is turned on. I thought I'd read somewhere that Lexus had gone to full electronic with Gen 7....? I do stand to be corrected.

ES’s have had analog clocks with sweep hands along with the computer display clock for many years there was an electronic issue and radio needed to be replaced. I assume the clock is part of the radio.

some folks have said it’s normal but it is an electronic issue. Many owners do not have the problem. I had to push the tech to get them to have Lexus look into it
