I have a 2020 ES 350 F sport on order. Dealer told me the 12.3" screen will be brought closer to the front of the dash and it will be touch screen. Trackpad will still be there as well so you don't have to use the touch screen if you don't want to.

As mentioned above, they are in production now. Not sure about the pipeline in your area. My dealer was sold out of all 2019 F sports.

I read that that 2020 RX will have a touchscreen and Android Auto, but haven't heard anything about the 2020 ES getting these features. Are you sure your sales guy isn't mixing this up?

I think he does have his models mixed up because like I said earlier, I don't see the ES getting a touchscreen until a redesign of the interior comes along with it and I don't see that happening for 2020.

I've seen, over and over, facts stated by salesmen to be erroneous or just ignorant. Most times I know more about the cars than they do. So whatever information they're giving out right now is meaningless. All they care about is you signing on the bottom line. This was the same situation when the gen 6 models starting to arrive. Rumors and misinformation...

You just never know until Lexus publishes the specs for the model year. I do agree the sales personnel have a vested interested in telling you what you want to hear, but sometimes they are merely misinformed themselves.

Here are a few references I found to this discussion (which don't even seem to agree):
https://newlexuscar.com/2020-lexus-e...edesign-specs/ (...absent a touchscreen...)
https://news.otakukart.com/370629/20...pecifications/ (suggests a 7" touchscreen?)
https://www.2020lexus.com/2021-lexus...rior-redesign/ (this article suggests the 2021 will offer all-wheel drive and a touch screen)

He could be. I'll know more when it arrives.

It does look like the trackpad is going away for the touchpad. It says optional below, but mine has every option except wireless charging and the rear sun shade. So perhaps it is bundled in the nav/mark Levinson package.

Have they told you when that will happen?

Looks identical to my 2019 ES 350.

Where did that screen shot come from? I just looked in the 2020 ES pdf brochure for footnote 35 and it is a warning for people with electrical devices when using the Remote Access feature. No mention there of a remote touchpad option.

Hopefully your "find" is true as it removes another obstacle to purchase. Now if they can just fix the base radio!

Same thing Trackpad, Touchpad. Replaced the mouse in the prior RX and ES prior generation I think.

You are correct. Same thing, different name... At least for the 2019...

No mention of a touchscreen...maybe a mistake on listing the touchpad as optional....

I noticed that your link had the same photo of a red F-Sport interior with the touchpad presented in the earlier post. However, there was no (35) footnote, only an (*). And of course, the meaning of the (*) was not shown at the bottom of the page. In fact, everything had an (*) with no mention of what it indicated, even in the legal section.

I did notice that Apple Car Play was listed for all those seeking it, but most of us have been expecting it anyway. Perhaps Lexus IS still finalizing the literature and what is out there for 2020 is merely a place-holder. We'll see. Only 2 more weeks until October.

Click on each * for a popup display with the notification. No notice of touchpad or touchscreen still on any that I have seen. Could be a placeholder as you mention...but I would be surprised. Maybe 2021 with a mid cycle refresh...hard to think that they would change it at this point only one year in.

No but it will be a couple months, unfortunately. Order was just sent to the factory. I don't think there are any 2020 ES's circulating around right now, hence not being able to find anything on this.

Understood on the touchpad. A part of me thought it still had the mouse thing, but that could be my mistake. We were in quite a few models that day.

From the 2020 brochure... Does not look like the screen is brought forward from this view.
