Ipod album artwork not displaying
I have the latest ipod touch but unfortunately the album arwork does not display when i'm listening to music on the ipod through the car. What gives? Is there a way to rectify this? Any input is appreciated.

Ipod album art work comes in the same format as video. For safety reasons, the Lexus front display does not display video while the car is driving. If you put it in park, you will notice that the artwork does display.

I really don't understand it. Lexus really thinks album art while driving is a safety issue but using the trackpad while driving, showing track details, etc isn't. I'm really happy with my ES but some decisions were pretty dumb. Just like causing the car to turn off after you open the door if started by remote start.

I guess you can blame Lexus but it's the NHTSA Driver Distraction Guidelines that said album cover art is a distraction and should be disabled, so Toyota/Lexus implemented it. It's not required by law to do so but Toyota went ahead and did it.

When you say folding rear view mirrors I'm guessing you are referring to the side mirror and them not being motorized. They do fold. It just has to be done manually.
I honestly don't even understand why that's something people care about. I remember reading about that complaint here on CL before I got my ES it was only then that I even tried to see if my current car at the time (2011 Camry hybrid) had manually folding mirrors (I knew they weren't motorized) and I discovered it didn't. It wasn't something I ever tried to do since I never had a reason to fold them.

I want to clarify. I don't really find the track pad distracting to use while driving but album art is even less distracting. As far as non-touch based controls I think the touch pad is better to all the other non-touch screen input methods. It's better than the older joystick Lexus used and better than the ****/dial interface that many German cars use.

If a spot is so tight that I need my mirrors to fold I'm not going to park there anyways. And even more than that, if a spot was so tight I needed to fold my mirrors to park I wouldn't be able to get out of the car anyways.

I think auto-fold mirrors are a great idea. How many times I’ve parked in an adequate size spot only to have to carefully squeeze between my mirror and that of the person who parked next to me while I was out of the car...I also see a lot of people parallel park on the street with traffic rushing by that could easily result in an expensive repair bill. It doesn’t take a narrow parking spot to create a hazard to your mirrors.

Whether you like them or not, think they're a benefit or not, IMO they should be included on the ES cars and are in other countries...

All subjective views I get it. At the end of the day, we all knew the new ES didn't have auto folding mirrors when we bought the car so why complain about it now.
