The Tesla sales (and those of other plug-in vehicles) benefit from a very nice federal income tax credit. I believe that the credit for Tesla models is now at $3750, and, up until recently, it was as high at $7500. And that is a tax credit, not just a deduction.
The Audi sales (and those of the ES) benefit from new or recent designs.
Otherwise, sales numbers for sedans are quite dismal. It is no wonder why various manufacturers are eliminating many sedan models from their line-ups.
Lexus needs to kill the gs already! The Tesla model 3 isn't a luxury car imo.

In Germany, where I come from, a luxury car would be a 7-series / S-Class / A8 or above. A 5-series or similar is considered upper middle class and a 3-series etc is lower middle class :-) :-)
