Default Smart Key battery

How often do you guys replace the batteries in your key fobs? Lexus recommends at 15,000 mile/18 month service. Seems a little early to me.

Funny I don't think I ever saw a message on the screen? It just did not start one day.

Just changed mine from in service on 9/4/2021 to 8/25/2025. No message that I saw, when was in for a warranty item tech said fob battery low so I changed it but it was working OK before that. Easy to do

I carry a spare battery in the “junk tray” along with a box of tissues, charging cords, parks pass, and fast food coupons. First time I get a warning or the car won’t start, the battery gets changed. Happened once with my old ES, hasn’t happened with the newer one.

You mean maybe the key fob was disabled by using the sequence "press and hold the LOCK button on the fob, then press the UNLOCK button twice"?
I don't remember doing that. I measured the old battery the day it stopped working and was surprised it was 3.06 V which should have been fine.
The new battery was around 3.3 V

Wow I just found the old battery, still in the garbage can. Maybe I'll experiment, the old battery is currently measuring 2.94 V.

I can't even remember when the battery was changed and the dealer did it for free. Guess it was low and they saw it.

No, I mean the option to inform you on the MID is disabled.
