There is a cost for the Enform App after 3 years. From the Lexus website, "No, Lexus navigation is not free after 3 years. While a subscription to Lexus Enform Dynamic Navigation is included for the first three years of ownership, you'll need to purchase a subscription to continue using it after that. The price for a two-year subscription is $169, and the system will continue to automatically update via the cloud as long as your subscription remains current.
For reference, could you post the Lexus web site link where you found that exact quote?
Searching on that quote only turns up now a link to a Lexus dealer web site. Some years ago you could find that information on Dynamic Navigation (but not that exact text quote) on one of the (US) Lexus official support web sites but after the 2023 model year change over to Drive Connect with Cloud Navigation the (US) Lexus web site information on Dynamic Navigation for the 2019 through 2022 Lexus ES has disappeared or buried somewhere impossible to find.
... I am guessing this is for the 2024 and 2025. ...
Jeaco's quote on Dynamic Navigation applies only to 2019 through 2022 model year Lexus ESs. For those model years, the navigation system (if equipped) has an on-board navigation database so the navigation system will still function even after the trial or last paid subscription has expired. After expiration you no longer can get on vehicle, storage limited, temporary local area updates from the cloud based "dynamic" part of the navigation system but the system continues to function using the navigation database loaded when the vehicle was manufactured or when the last paid subscription (if any) was renewed. (Whatever temporarily stored dynamic navigation updates a vehicle's system may have gets deleted from the system when there's no longer any active (paid or trial) subscription.)
Starting with the 2023 model year, Lexus ES changed over to the Lexus Interface system's Drive Connect with Cloud Navigation. With that navigation system, the Lexus navigation system won't function at all without an active (paid or trial) subscription. If you don't have one, you'll be prompted to sign up for a subscription whenever you attempt to use the Lexus navigation system.
I will say that I asked my dealer about the Navigation and was told I needed to keep up the Enform for it to work. Now i do know that sometimes dealers can have different information. But with this knowledge, to me it felt like a money grab. As a matter of fact, I will not pay to have any of the little extras in the app that require a subscription. It bothers me to have to pay a yearly fee. That is my opinion.

OK, so my info was NOT bad. The system will still work, but you have to update the DB manually (which is exactly how it works on my IS 500) on pre-2023 cars, but for new cars you do, in fact, need a subscription. Right?

Correct, for Dynamic Navigation equipped vehicles (2019 through 2022 model year ESs and up to and including 2025 model year ISs) the navigation system will still work but will only use the on-board permanently stored navigation database stored during manufacturing or the last paid subscription update. For Drive Connect with cloud navigation equipped vehicles (2023 and later model year ESs), you need an active (trial or paid) subscription for the Lexus built-in navigation system to work.
Part of the $169 two year renewal Dynamic Navigation subscription fee Jeaco quoted above includes a navigation database update for the on-board navigation system. For the 2019 through 2022 model year ESs, the update is a download file that's installed on a USB flash drive. With that USB flash drive inserted in one of the ES's data capable USB ports (one of the forward console ones used for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto) there is a function in the Multimedia system which when invoked will update the on-board navigation database. (I haven't looked into how a navigation database update is accomplished on the present generation of IS. For ISs, the update may use a SIM card or some other medium other than a USB flash drive as the update input medium.)
