Interior protection from dog
Hi all. I’m curious what ownership experience has been with a dog that regularly rides in the car. My wife’s 2016 RX rear door panels were so soft when Smokey would jump up to stick his head out the window, even with trimmed nails, he did a number on the top part of the door panel material.
I drive a 2020 ES and seems like it’s a little stiffer material, but wanted to ask if anyone had experience. We have some door covers from the last seat cover we bought but requires adhesive Velcro, so also wondering about that.
Reason for all of this is we recently traded her 2016 RX for a 2022 RX F Sport and I REALLY don’t want the dog in there messing that interior up.

Have you considered this. Easy to install, easy to remove, and has protected leather in all of my vehicles for years. We zip up the ends after dog is loaded. See second picture in description for more detail. Keeps paws off the door when living her best dog life with head out the window.

good point. If you can't find one that has high enough ends, may not solve your issue.
Probably a good idea for a manufacturer to make long ends that zip up the sides to a point than then have some angled flat plastic on the end of the fabric flap that could tuck into the door between the window glass and door panel.
