How to remove protective cover to access oil filter.
Had planned to change the oil on the '23 ES350. The design of the protective cover underneath is new to me. I am accustom to seeing a cover held by four 10mm head screws. This one is different. So I am here to learn how to properly remove that cover without breaking something on my maiden voyage. Thanks for any info.
What is the correct way to remove this cover to access the oil filter.

I change the oil myself so removed the panel underneath and just left it in the trunk. My 2013 didn't even have one...

The video was helpful. The filter insert comes with two rubber o-rings. The large one goes around the housing but where does the small o-ring go? The video shows the two rings in the package but only thr large one is installed.in the video.

The other one goes over the filter drain plug.

Uncertain what the filter drain plug is.. I'll guess that it's the plug on the bottom of the housing which can be removed to drain the oil before removing the housing itself. I didn't do that and just removed the housing and let the oil drain into the catch pan.

Yes. The bottom plug 3/8” is the drain plug.

In addition to the two rubber gaskets for the filter housing, you will also need to get a replacement crush washer for the oil drain plug. The under body cover is kind of a pain as it adds about 15 minutes to each oil change. Every car we now have has a panel that needs removal to change the oil and filter. Let me know if you need the torque settings.

I am afraid it will weaken the panel and make whistling noise.

I'm new with an ES and my next couple of oil changes are included from Lexus but after that I plan to do mine myself. This is a whole new set up from any other car I've ever maintained. What a PITA to have to use push pins to remove the cover and then you have to completely remove that big piece of the cover. Then a whole new tool just to remove the oil filter housing? Not that it all looks hard but definitely looks be much more involved than oil changes used to be. And those push pins, well might as well buy a bag of those. After some age and a few removals of those, they will be needing to be replaced.

Just take the cover off and leave it off. No screws or push pins needed... I took it off after the free oil change and do the changes myself. Mine has been off for 4 years now...
