Default What's the latest wax you're using

So, now that I have my ES, I want to look at giving it a wax soon. What's the latest wax product you're using? I usually use Chemical Guy's Butter Wet Wax lately. Seems like ceramic is the rage now but I've never used any before. What are your recommendations and experiences?

Collinite NO 845.
Especially on darker cars like yours (red or blue), it creates depth and shine.
Whole bottle lasts for a long time as you only need a tiny amount.

New to Lexus and I like to buff and wax with a mild cleaner wax that polishes using an orbiter polisher with light polishing pad. Coming from older vehicle so my question is how does hardness and thickness of Lexus clear coat compare to say '12 GM product?

You have to be careful and not to use abrasive paste bacause the clear coat is very soft (self healing).

That's the reason, I am using Collinite no 845. It doesn't have any abrasives.
What do you mean by self healing?

From the Owner's Manual, "6-1. Maintenance and care" subchapter, "Cleaning instructions" section:
Self-restoring coat

The vehicle body has a self-restoring coating that is resistant to small surface scratches caused in a car wash etc.

● The coating lasts for 5 to 8 years from when the vehicle is delivered from the plant.

● The restoration time differs depending on the depth of the scratch and outside temperature.

The restoration time may become shorter when the coating is warmed by applying warm water.

● Deep scratches caused by keys, coins, etc. cannot be restored.

● Do not use wax that contain abrasives.

Your favorite search engine will turn up quite a few hits answering that question. One amongst many is from WAVEX AUTO CARE:
What is the difference between a car polish and wax?

There are many differences between car polishes and waxes. Car polishes tends to consist of minor abrasives however, car waxes do not contain abrasives. ...

Spray on products are a complete waste of time* and money unless you like the process of detailing, or you're topping off a ceramic coating. Spray on products don't last and they don't protect very well either. If you plan on keeping your car for 10+ years then at least get a ceramic coating or better protection film. If you don't tend to own a car long term then why bother with any detailing it will look good enough until you sell or your lease is up.

*another exception is car shows, carnauba wax is unmatched for shine and depth but it's difficult to apply and literally evaporates in the sun.

Meguiar's ceramic wax. Lasts about a month to 6 weeks after initial application. Follow instructions and the paint will be as smooth as a baby's a$$. So smooth that dirt don't adhere... I would not use polish on a new car as it doesn't need it...

I use the wax that my car wash uses in the final spray before the drying fans. Works for me.
