Default 2025 Update

I’ve read here people discussing what the 2025 ES update might look like. I’m a NASCAR fan and saw a 2025 Camry pacing the field during the race at COTA. The front end of that car is a pretty dramatic change! I’m not sure how much I like it……or don’t.

The ES isn't based on the Camry, and the front end of the ES hasn't resembled it's Toyota counterpart in many years.

My comment was not a comparison. Sorry for the confusion. It was about the radical changes to the Camry. Might we see that with the ES?

Many members of the forum think big changes in '25 from sheet metal to engines. No one knows, only conjecture so far. Just have to wait and see... Only have about 6 months to wait for new models.

I'm not in the market, but there is a legitimate reason for the curiosity. For one thing, we have at least one forum participant who is basing his next buy/don't buy decision on how the next car is revised.

I don't know whether the next gen will be released as a '25 or a '26, and I don't know who these many members are. But I have been consistent in endorsing the posts of the well-connected poster Carmaker1 in the Car Talk forum of this website. He has flagged a specific illustration released by Lexus as being, in his judgment, a close rendering of the next-generation ES. It looks dimensionally similar to the current one in basically every way except for the rear-quarter window shapes, which the illustration shows as more resembling the LS's six-window arrangement.

Now, the drivetrains are a whole different kettle of fish. Anyone who wants to is still invited to join the bet I've proposed that the new car will no longer offer a six-cylinder engine; one esteemed fellow poster is already on with me for twenty bucks.

I am also curious about the next generation ES, but there is one topic and that topic can be updated every day.

Yeah, that’s me and I’m getting ready to write your check! I’ve given up hoping for continuation of the 6 cyl and, as per conversation with my very senior sales manager at a huge Lexus dealership, I’m now merely hoping for any ICE model, at all, almost certain to be a turbo 4.
Most constant thing in this world, I guess, is change!

The problem with that logic, IMO, is that it's a waste of time and energy. Even if the 25 or 26 turns out as you or someone else predicts, Lexus could add a feature you didn't even contemplate that is a deal breaker. IOW, you wont really know if the car is for you until the final product is in the showrooms and you can test drive it and kick the tires.

You can rationalize that your going through all these gyrations for a valid decision making process, but you're just kidding yourself. Just admit that like enjoy that speculation and that's all there is to it.

Absolutely right! I very much enjoy speculating about the Gen8 car, the outcome of 2024 Election and the coming season of myPittsburgh Pirates! That luxury is one of the most enjoyable perquisites of a comfortable retirement!

Good for you, Shaboom. Who is anyone else to sit in judgment that their posts on a car board are a proper use of time and energy, but yours are a waste? Enjoy life while you have it, any way you choose that doesn't harm others.

You're misinterpreting what I said. My point is that IF YOUR OBJECTIVE IS TO HELP YOU MAKE A DECISION ABOUT A FUTURE PURCHASE, then you're wasting your time and energy. But if you're just having fun speculating, then that's perfectly fine. Enjoy yourself. Just don't kid yourself that your doing the former.

Note that Shaboom quoted my entire post and responded "Absolutely right!" Clearly, he got my point.
