I didn’t pay anything regarding the tariffs, this was before the tariffs.

I have not done this to my ES, but I would think that if the objective is to add more illumination to the interior of the trunk, there are two options. In previous cars (RC,SC,RX) I have changed the interior and trunk lights to higher powered LED's, and that worked great. However, I believe that there is no need to to this in the ES and they caution against trying this.
The second option would be to get a few LEDs, fashion a little plastic box and tap into the existing wiring to the interior light in the trunk (or even into the power line to the rear sill accessory (which I think is there in all cars). You can put the boxes anywhere in the trunk.
If somebody has tried this, or knows a reason why we should not try this, let us know.

Adding LEDs powered by the trunk wiring is something I was thinking of. The illuminated trunk sill is neat, but Im not sure its worth the $$$ (if I can even find it anyway)

Plus if you add your own LEDs you can use most any config you want. Strips along the underside of the rear deck would light the whole thing up like an xmas tree.

The only thing I could think of stopping us from doing that is if the circuit it connects to being monitored by the BCM, and if the resistance is not within expected, it throwing a warning light. I doubt thats the case (would it throw a warning light if your illuminated trunk sill stopped working?) but you never know.
