Split Screen 2024 ES 350
I tried so hard to like the new RX350h but there were many things I liked that were taken away. Last few days was trying again and looking at the 450h+ and found out there was no spare tire. The list does keep growing. My 2020 ES300h UL basic warranty is now out and why I am looking to change to not have to worry about repairs.
Does anyone know how to get the massive 12.3 display to do split screen with NAV plus audio side to side? I just traded in 2019 BMW 530 that had that standard and am shocked that this doesn't have that ability. I could have Carplay on 2/3 of the screen and the right 1/3 showed audio. Plus in Carplay everytime I use the dial to turn stations it takes me out of Carplay back to the media menu to see the Sirius station. The only way to stay in Carplay is to use the steering wheel buttons and cycle through favorites. Not flexible. Am i missing something?
I stumbled on it the other day. Can't remember if I was in the Lexus nav screen or Apple Carplay. I think the Lexus screen. I noticed several little dots along the bottom with one highlighted. This usually means you can swipe to another page and there was one dark dot to the left of the highlighted one. Sure enough, I swiped the screen to the right and got a divided screen with audio and nav info.
Give it a try and let me know because the "high tech" technician at the dealer has no clue.
RX350h has a spare but not the 450h+. As for the split screen it is personal preference. A quick glance to see 2 screens in my opinion only is much better than taking that extra step to look at another and then another step to come back with voice prompts. My computer is on a 40 inch display with at least 9 screens on display. What would we say if Microsoft decided for us to look at only 1 at a time and use voice prompt to change. That would create massive outrage. For those that want to only look at 1 screen on large screens like the ES 12.3 and RX 14 inch that is fine as like I said it is personal preference and this is my opinion only.

I also seem to recall reading that certain (or all?) voice commands only function if a certain subscription is active. Perhaps that is only an issue with verbal navigation commands when the dynamic nav subscription has expired. I just cannot recall the specifics on this discussion but maybe someone else can clarify?
I haven't been able to figure out how to split the screen. There are two smaller screens when in Android Auto other than the mandated maps screen. One is set to Youtube Music which I don;t have and the other is a "for you" which is bland and can't be adjusted. I've spoken with customer service, service departments, and sales people.. I was told that the question is too complicated for telephone support, don't know why, and that I have to go back to the dealer for an additional training on the car (only 3 days old). Will post back again after the training which we all know will be futile.
Without AA there is no split screen on 2024. Try to put your Lexus radio on the AA split screen and you can't unless it has changed from my 2020. Also with AA you don't have option of full screen maps. Also not all will use AA like my wife that will never use it.
You guys need to just learn to use the voice UI. Don't be like your parents asking you for help to send an email or fix their wifi. This business with relying on split screen is like not understanding how to change the channel on the remote control.
Also, needing to see the audio UI at all times is just bizarre.

I just don’t understand how some in here get so upset at the idea of people having different preferences and having options for different user modes. With options, you can use voice UI to your hearts content but others could use split screens if that works better for them. Why isn’t that acceptable and so difficult to deal with?
The reason why everyone can't just have what "works better for them" is because the split screen (as desired) is not available. That was the whole start of this thread. Apparently the CarPlay split screen is not good enough; they want to split between the Lexus and the CarPlay interfaces. So, before you throw your drink at everyone, let me catch you up on the thread. Basically (1) people said "Argh there's no split screen." (2) I said "You should use voice commands they're pretty good". (3) People said <OMG HOW DARE YOU DISAGREE YOU'RE SO CONDESCENDING>.
Finally, just checking here, you guys know that carplay has a built in split screen, right? I'm going to assume that you know that it exists, that it lets you view your map and your audio, and that you don't like it. Because, kinda looks bad if you didn't know about it. Swipe left from the home screen.

Calm down. There was nothing condescending implied by my post. Sorry you felt that way. I feel like you had a bad day.

The bottom line is it’s one thing to point out that there is an alternate method of obtaining a split screen with an outside product, but there’s no reason to editorialize by adding judgmental remarks. It serves no purpose.
