350h has a spare.

Plus in Carplay everytime I use the dial to turn stations it takes me out of Carplay back to the media menu to see the Sirius station. The only way to stay in Carplay is to use the steering wheel buttons and cycle through favorites. Not flexible. Am i missing something?
I didn't think so and I was told it did not. To my surprise! I stumbled on it the other day. Can't remember if I was in the Lexus nav screen or Apple Carplay. I think the Lexus screen. I noticed several little dots along the bottom with one highlighted. This usually means you can swipe to another page and there was one dark dot to the left of the highlighted one. Sure enough, I swiped the screen to the right and got a divided screen with audio and nav info.
Give it a try and let me know because the "high tech" technician at the dealer has no clue.

RX350h has a spare but not the 450h+. As for the split screen it is personal preference. A quick glance to see 2 screens in my opinion only is much better than taking that extra step to look at another and then another step to come back with voice prompts. My computer is on a 40 inch display with at least 9 screens on display. What would we say if Microsoft decided for us to look at only 1 at a time and use voice prompt to change. That would create massive outrage. For those that want to only look at 1 screen on large screens like the ES 12.3 and RX 14 inch that is fine as like I said it is personal preference and this is my opinion only.

I have to agree with you on this - both for the automotive screen analysis as well as the computer screen comparison. Frankly, I’m one of those “bizarre” folks that likes to keep the audio on the smaller half of the screen. It isn’t about a tech challenge, I just happen to enjoy see the artist and song name on the display. While I do use the audio commands from time to time, I do not know if there is one that provides this information. If anyone knows, please do enlighten me.

I also seem to recall reading that certain (or all?) voice commands only function if a certain subscription is active. Perhaps that is only an issue with verbal navigation commands when the dynamic nav subscription has expired. I just cannot recall the specifics on this discussion but maybe someone else can clarify?

I was told that the question is too complicated for telephone support, don't know why, and that I have to go back to the dealer for an additional training on the car (only 3 days old). Will post back again after the training which we all know will be futile.
My 2024 UL does the split screen in Android Auto. Left side is the map and right side shows the audio (shrinks slightly when there are message alerts, etc).

Without AA there is no split screen on 2024. Try to put your Lexus radio on the AA split screen and you can't unless it has changed from my 2020. Also with AA you don't have option of full screen maps. Also not all will use AA like my wife that will never use it.

It’s great that you get to decide how to view the preferences of others in these terms. I mean, seriously, “bizarre”? It’s frankly rather condescending to suggest that “relying on split screens” indicates a lack of some tech knowledge. These “guys need to just learn” the method you prefer? I get that we all have personal preferences on a lot of things we interact with, but I just don’t understand how some in here get so upset at the idea of people having different preferences and having options for different user modes. With options, you can use voice UI to your hearts content but others could use split screens if that works better for them. Why isn’t that acceptable and so difficult to deal with?

Calm down. There was nothing condescending implied by my post. Sorry you felt that way. I feel like you had a bad day.

The reason why everyone can't just have what "works better for them" is because the split screen (as desired) is not available. That was the whole start of this thread. Apparently the CarPlay split screen is not good enough; they want to split between the Lexus and the CarPlay interfaces. So, before you throw your drink at everyone, let me catch you up on the thread. Basically (1) people said "Argh there's no split screen." (2) I said "You should use voice commands they're pretty good". (3) People said <OMG HOW DARE YOU DISAGREE YOU'RE SO CONDESCENDING>.

Finally, just checking here, you guys know that carplay has a built in split screen, right? I'm going to assume that you know that it exists, that it lets you view your map and your audio, and that you don't like it. Because, kinda looks bad if you didn't know about it. Swipe left from the home screen.

That sounds like the options in CarPlay. As has been mentioned, CarPlay has its own “split screen” feature, although to the best of my knowledge it’s not customizable; for those interested in audio it shows cover art but no verbiage.

Well, when I see ageism directed at a position ["Don't be like your parents asking you for help to send an email or fix their wifi. (Meaning, you’re acting old which equals ignorant of new things/functions/uses) and "This business with relying on split screen is like not understanding how to change the channel on the remote control." (Meaning, other posters are like those - presumably the geezers from earlier - who are not able to understand something as basic as changing a channel or other easy to do task a “norma” person could do.) then yes, I do find that condensing. It also just minimizes what people are saying. I get it it - they’re not installing it that way, and yes, I’m sure some DO know that CarPlay has split capability, but not everyone wants to use an accessory function from something other than the car they bought, correct, it is not good enough. It may be what people have to settle for, but that doesn’t mean they like to like it or that they are dolts who don’t know or understand things.

The bottom line is it’s one thing to point out that there is an alternate method of obtaining a split screen with an outside product, but there’s no reason to editorialize by adding judgmental remarks. It serves no purpose.
