Default Found Something New

Don’t laugh, but I never knew that a little compartment was built into the dash just above the driver’s left knee. I somehow bumped the release button today (a year-and-a-half purchasing) and the lil door opened. I initially thought it was access to a fuse box or scan tool connection but I think it’s just a small compartment. Anyone else not know about this??

No, I skimmed through the owners manual when I spent tens of thousands of dollars on the car.

Funny you should ask. I wondered the exact same thing.

It seems too small to be useful. Coupled with hardly anyone notices it, i think it's a waste that it exists. only thing you can really use it for is coins i guess. but i wouldn't want coins in there making noise against the plastic.

Unpopular opinion: I wish the start button was there. I really dislike that it's hidden behind the steering wheel. Maybe it's my seating position but I can't see that button at all, without leaning over a bit to find it.

Ah, the miniscule compartment - where gas cards and, strangely enough, an iPhone sim tool coexist in harmony. Your comment about this little nook reminded me of a thread devoted to such "aha" moments. What "treasures" we can still discover right under our noses (or in our car consoles) is fantastic.

One of those "What the what?" moments hit me when I stumbled upon the hypnotic intro sequence that the HUD unveiled during start-up. It's like a mesmerizing dance, luring you into the digital realm. I can't say I wasn't impressed, though!

Use mine all the time. I put quarters in there for the car wash.

or better yet, the brake pedal should be the start button. (at least for hybrid cars).

starter buttons are a thing of the past. at least here anyway!

Yeah, I don't miss it at all! It is a little weird just getting out and walking away, though.

I've been keeping change in there for nearly five years now

Yes the effort required to touch that silly thing every time I need to start the car is making me consider other alternatives

If I did that, I'd line that thing with sticky-back felt right now (which I did for the phone slot). The last thing you want in a quiet car is coins rattling around in a plastic box.

I found it to be a perfect place to store my key fob when driving. I don’t like things sliding and colliding around in cup holder and don’t like having to search for it in storage bin. Works like a charm for me.

I wouldn't hear a thing with the audio volume drowning everything else out

I keep a mini tape measure in there. Found it useful to have handy for numerous things that require measuring... There was one in the gen 6 cars also...
