Just to clarify - it was not that I couldn't purchase my own vehicle at lease end, it was that a third party relative could not purchase it. I have traded or otherwise sold leased cars through dealers without any problems over the years.

Even more interesting - a neighbor recently decided to purchase a three year old Toyota at lease-end because of the higher than residual, resale value and because the car was titled to his trust, the trust had to purchase and title the car before it could be sold/transferred to him. (maybe that is why I don't like such trust). This was through TFS - all went well just a little cumbersome.

This dealership has been allocated 2023 ES, as of 8/23/22:

Interesting find !! Thanks. It clears up one thing, the ES 350 2023 is coming and is not going away like the Avalon.
I know everyone expects it but we didn't see anything official on it until this sign. What I don't understand is why is Lexus still manufacturing the 2022 models when we are at the latter part of 2022. They probably have the parts lying around for 2022 which they have to build on.

Another thing to notice is that the trim is not specified along with the pricing. I believe in about a month or so there will be more allocations etc.

I spoke with my Lexus contact and they did confirm," **The 2023 ES models have just been added to our inventory as incoming units. However, there have been no costs/MSRPs given to these vehicles yet, nor the release date."

As to why they are still producing 2022's is very simple and I've answered this multiple times. They are still currently behind on their existing orders. They still have to be fulfilled so they will continue until they have produced the necessary vehicles. Keep in mind that Lexus allocates vehicles on a quarterly basis whereas most other manufacturers allocate on a monthly basis.

Even having worked for Toyota and having a pretty solid knowledge of the industry, there are still so many things that are beyond me. But the unrealistic expectations and lack of understanding can be pervasive in this forum at times.
