I almost never carry the key fob anymore. It's personal preference but I also tend to misplace my keys often. If I want to remote start, I use the Lexus app. If I want to open the trunk, I use my foot for the kick sensor. I avoid using the key fob unless necessary. I keep the card in either my pocket or wallet. The last time I had to use the key fob was to pop the trunk for someone as I was in the house. I rarely use this feature but you would need the key fob to be able to remotely open all of the windows and/or moonroof.

I agree that moving to an app/smartphone based platform would be even better as I am rarely without my phone.
Thats exactly why I like the key card too. Because I don’t have to lug around my key fob or even my cell phone. The key card is more of a convenience item more than anything else. And so what if it’s obsolete or old technology. It’s still a very useful item to have around if you don’t have your key fob or your cell phone with you.

This. I didn't think the smart card was any big deal, and I wouldn't have paid the $100 to get it unless I was forced to. But now that I have it, I find I'm using it. I have to carry my wallet because you have to carry your license, etc., so using the card instead of the fob means I have one less object in my pocket. That's nice for me because I like to travel light. Yes, a phone app would do the same because I also have to carry my phone, but I personally don't want to start my car with a phone app—among other things, if my phone fails, I don't want it to be able to take my car down with it.

The phone app is a joke. I have the Mercedes Benz phone app and it doesn’t work half the time. I’m sick and tired of having to open the app and then having to put in the password to start the car remotely. It’s all a lot of work and aggravation. I would rather just use a key fob to remotely start my car. The smart card key makes it very easy to start the car without having to use a stupid phone app.

I agree. One negative with wireless, digital technology is that without a tangible backup, you would literally be stuck!

Check the box Remember Me and you dont have to reenter any password. I use the app often and it works flawlessly for remote start and spying on my wife to see where her car is 😍😍

I only carry the key card because its thin and fits comfortbly inside my suit jacket wiithout have a bulge or added weight. They key fob does neither. Lol
Old tech, yes, but it still has its use.

That’s what I say too. The key card is a good thing to have on your person.

You mean the Smartphone Apps that they now want a monthly fee for?
I do like that it takes up less space in the pocket, I have not put it in wallet

I do not even carry a wallet. I am surprised people rather carry the key fob 🤔🤷.

Also. If you have the app the card seems like the logical choice. Maybe the ones against the card decided not to spend the whopping $100 or so bucks purchasing price. 🤣🤣🤣..

Based on what I found here: https://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrive...enform/pricing

It's $8/mo or $80/yr for Enform Remote after a free trial of 3yrs. That's a good deal to have a subscription based app that has so many features, in my opinion. I'm not saying you do this, but I see many people complaining about monthly subscriptions, but will happily pay $6 each day for their Starbucks coffee without a second thought. Just depends on what and how much you value things. I see a lot of value in the app so I'd happily pay for it each year.

Starbucks is expensive and their coffee isn’t anything special. I would rather pay $80 per year for the app than give my money to Starbucks.

You couldn't PAY ME $6 a day to drink Starbucks 5W30.

For me personally, their current screwing of their workers makes me double down on agreeing with that. But I digress.

To the comment about the $100, I'll admit it: I wouldn't have paid the $100 if I hadn't been forced to. I didn't anticipate I'd find the card so handy; I thought, "Why pay for a little battery-powered key when they're giving me two little battery-powered keys for free?" But as it turns out, I do.
