Gosh isn't it as simple as there's no darn speakers back there? In the old days, we had four speaker stereo - two in front on two on the ledge in the back. Voila you had equal sound all around. These systems are a bit different and more sophisticated I suspect As the Doobie Brothers once said "Listen to the Music"!!
