Very simple: You press a button on your dash to see what your tire pressure is. If it's low you find a local Quikcheck with a free pump to level it off. I find that my tires change pressure by about + or - 1 pound. So I don't worry... And I'm not sure but I think that the TPMS will notify the driver if the pressure goes too low. I put 78% Nitrogen into my tires...
Yes indeed you get the dreaded warning light. Most times, it's due to a nail in the tire at least in my case
I seriously respect the point of view. Let me illustrate how it can be much ado.
We had our first mid-Atlantic cold snap of 57 degrees this morning after temps ranging from mid-80s to low 90s. The Tacoma atmospheric-filled tire sensors shouted from the dashboard. Sure enough they were 3-4 lbs low. Same for the 80s Porsche. I checked the Rx350 and it’s nitro-filled tires were right on. But I had to move the RX out of the way to get the Tacoma nearer the air tank and the Porsche, before I could drive the daily Tacoma.
For those of you in the mid-Atlantic with “meh” nitro-filled tires used as your daily, I hope you enjoyed hopping right in, heading right off to work or the golf course.
oh… geez, it’s mid-90s in the middle of the week. I’ve got to remember to deflate that Tacoma.

Just top them off when it gets cold. Really is much ado about nothing. I keep an inflator in my trunk. It was 51° this morning and I didn't even get the light because I topped them off a few weeks ago
After driving two blocks the pressure is back...No need for nitrogen filled tires when the air you're breathing is 78% N. Dealers scam unaware people into paying for it...
I mean that's precisely why we have TPMS systems. I also store an electric pump in the trunk which I almost never use because the local Quikchek has two FREE airpumps with digital set points.
You're lucky. In my area, every station with air gouges you two bucks a pop to use it.

I got the light when I fired it up a couple nights ago in the middle of nowhere on a holiday weekend. Scared me until I remembered how to access the dashboard display and saw it was because one tire had dropped to 29 PSI. Talk about a hair trigger. That kind of warning does more harm than good.

You get used to it or you pump up before the colder weather sets in. We're having a heat wave in Sept here in the NE so I won't have to worry about so soon😉
