Actually they are also ahead of Lexus in JD Power's Vehicle Dependability Survey as well, which is a measure of reliability. #1:
I wouldn't worry about a Genesis from a reliability standpoint at all.
Until this year Lexus won this award for 7 years in a row and I believe they have won this 15 times. I don't think they are too worried about Genesis at this point! Genesis still has much to prove since this is the first time they have won this award!

Lexus lost the top spot (highly likely) because of their unreliable, confusing, and overcomplex infotainment systems, and remote starts that work maybe half the time (and sell it as a subscription nonetheless). They did it to themselves, and got complacent, and ignorant. Serves them right by losing the top spot. Consumers now look for infotainment that is functional (carplay and android auto) and simple to operate. Lexus has to go back to basics which made them so successful in the 90s, and 2000s, and lose their current ignorance and arrogance.

I think they should be worried about Genesis. What Genesis doesnt have down is the dealer network, thats really holding them back but IMO today, Genesis makes a better Lexus than Lexus does.
BTW, this is the first time Genesis has even been eligible for this award. To win it the first year you're eligible for it is pretty impressive.

Look at their sales volume, I don't think they're worried and Genesis is certainly not first on their radar😀

The sales volume is due to their issues with dealer networks. If they get those issues solved you'll see them doing much better volume. Having crossovers coming will help their volume tremendously too.

That may be the case but i doubt it will be Genesis.
If Genesis can get their dealer issues sorted then I have every confidence it will be Genesis. The product is excellent, they're getting the quality recognition, why wouldnt it be Genesis?

anyone buying an ES should only now purchase it with AWD, I don't think you can get the v6 with it as of yet I may be wrong....
I would also want AWD and I think its a huge mistake that they brought the AWD only with the 4cyl, which I wouldnt want
I agree Genesis makes a fine product, they are silky smooth to drive, quite reliable, attractive, pretty much everything I personally look for in a car with the following exceptions:
Dealer network awful - you're stuck with Hyundai for the most part whose customer service is horrendous.
Brand recognition - it just hasn't achieved this for one reason or another and the impact of that on resale/trade values is significant.
Then further exacerbating these issues, they're pricing is getting out of hand. G80 I don't care for. I looked at the G70 before I bought my ES but the back seat or lack thereof was a non-starter even though I rarely have anyone back there. Their SUV lineup which has taken forever to bring to market looks nice but again, pricing would make me hesitate.
So far as pricing, they still are cheaper than their competition by a considerable margin. The G70 doesn't compete with the ES, its a competitor for the 3 Series, IS, C Class, etc.

The new G80 is quite nice I agree. I wouldn't drop $70k on one though, not even 60.
