I just got back from Southern California where I spent almost two weeks driving and riding in a 2020 Genesis G80. I'm here to tell you that this car that knocked Lexus out of first place in the J.D. Power report is one nice car. Has all the features, and more, than Lexus for the money. I wouldn't trade my Lexus for it but Hyundai has come a long way as far as producing a luxury vehicle comparable to the ES 300/350...

But the gas mileage of the G80 leaves a lot to be desired.

Guess what
The Palisade remote start keeps running when you open the door or the trunk and you don't have to restart your car unlike Lexus
I hate rubbing it in guys
did I mention you can also cut the rear defrost side mirrors steering wheel on and adjust vehicle temp and front defrost from the app
and you can enter any address on the blue link app and it sends it to the car so navigation is so easy you never have to enter poi or address in on the car you can do it from the app
and it comes with 3 years of this free unlike L

Now we get it. We are all off to the Hyundai dealer. NOT. From a former Hyundai owner, as I said they are good cars but apples and oranges compared to Lexus refinement, material quality and resale value. Glad you love the new truck.

Hyundai (and Kia) seem to be having some problems with one of their engines. Both the manufacturer and the dealers seem to be reluctant to "own up" to the problem. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/briti...alls-1.5382373 . Maybe not the same engine as in the G80, et al but not a very good image that's been formed.

Their 4cyl engines were trouble prone in many MYs of the Sonata 2011 forward. Many replaced and warranties extended.

Yep but Genesis to Hyundai is Lexus to Toyota. This thread started on a Hyundai model.

I'll never understand why people will continue to remain on a forum of a product they no longer own...only to tell you how much better their new product is. To me it signals a bit of insecurity with their new product.

Well it's a moot point anyway for a few of us...I just checked and there are (is) exactly 1 (one) Genesis dealer in all of Canada and they're on the West Coast. They also have exactly 2 (two) cars in inventory...both 2019 demos. (Now I know why I'd never heard of them as a separate brand rather than a larger Hyundai model before ).

They tried a rollout in the US to separate the dealerships but it hasn't worked out. If I want a Genesis model here in northern NJ, I head to the Hyundai dealer.

On post number 15, I went into detail about the problems with Genesis and that's why I just bought a new ES.

The Palisade does look nice, I hope you enjoy it! Ultimately it is unappealing to me. Mainstream car companies have been making well-trimmed versions of their vehicles for decades. And as nice as they are, they're hardly putting the luxury makers out of business. The near-luxury segment is exactly what it says it is. There is a difference (beyond the badge) that matters to some, but doesn't matter or may not even be noticed at all to others.

On a side note, I find it an amusing sign of the time that a large midsize-to-fullsize sedans is too small to haul two kiddos

I really love my new Philco Television, and the free bottle of booze ain't too bad either. Much better than my Lexus.
