I would expect that your present mirrors don't contain the motors so new motorized mirrors would be required along with the cables and switch. It also looks like the new switch is larger and will not fit in the current rectangular opening so a new armrest plate may also be necessary.

I would love to know the answer to this.

it does have a motor (up and down) for backing up, just not the type of motor that can also do left and right

I don't see much of a gain having this option, the mirrors stick out way beyond to begin with.

I am not enthusiastic about the design placement of the mirrors, I prefer if they were corner mounted of the glass plane like my previous GS.

For the 4th gen GS, the release year 2013 did not have the motors built into the mirrors or the switch inside. in 2014 they released power folding mirrors to the US GS. The retrofit for me is as simple as getting power folding mirrors from a 2014+ or 2013 japan model, plugging them in, installing the window master switch that has the mirror control on it, and it will all just work.

For the ES I imagine you just need the new mirrors, the new switch, and it will work fine.

I suspect that replacing standard outside mirrors with power folding mirrors would require - new power mirrors, a new switch panel inside the car if it will even fit, and as previously stated, maybe a new armrest as well, and, if not a DIY job, labor to remove the entire door panels and rewire and mount the mirrors. This, IMO, would be prohibitively expensive if it could be done at all... A lot of money for little reward...

Did some checking online for prices of heated, blind spot included folding mirrors and they come in at $968.00 to $1229.00 each for a 2019 NX...

There may be a 'cool factor' to the folding mirrors, but that price that doesn't even reflect labor, is not cool.
