My dealer actually told me that i needed to buy before Nov 1 because december to remember would not be as good as 2017 as the ES is a brand new redesign. I got 1000 in loyalty and 2400 off the sticker from the dealer. Had I not, it would have been 0. There is no loyalty in my sales area, it was removed as of midnight 10/31.

Of course they told you that. How do you know when a car salesman is lying? His or her lips are moving.

I am currently negotiating on a 2019 ES 350, I'm a first time Lexus buyer. The optional equipment includes; 18-in Split 10-Spoke Alloy Wheels (which I did not ask for);
Blind Spot Monitor w/Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Intuitive Parking Assist w/Auto Braking; Premium Package; Trunk Mat/Cargo Net/Whl Locks/Rr Bumper App/Glove (also did not ask for). All total the options are listed at $4,194. The total MSRP is $44,819.

Is it possible to negotiate the MSRP with a Lexus Dealer? If so, what would be a reasonable counter offer off the MSRP? I have never paid MSRP on any other vehicles, is this a Lexus policy? I am being told there are no cash rebates on the ES unless I am a Morgan Stanley Reserve Client. Appreciate any input!

that is not a lexus policy. that is what the dealers try to do. i just bought one. Got a price from JM lexus in Margate Fl who was discounting the car 3290 off sticker. I called around and all said they would match. In the end, I bought it from Larchmont NY who gave me the best deal and best trade in value of all of them. IM me for further details.

You do not, and should not, pay sticker price for ANY normal production vehicle. And many of the options that they're trying to sell you are dealer installed. Tell them to take off the wheel locks, take out the trunk mat and whatever else it is that you don't want. These are all gingerbread items designed to inflate your price. Don't put Nitrogen in your tires or get interior upholstery treatment. All a bunch of BS...
And you must be a Morgan Stanley client? This is a new one... Tell him you're related to Santa Claus and you should get a discount...

Thank you for the advice. If I can ask your opinion, I am reading that some buyers are taking 9-10% off of the MSRP in presenting a counter offer, does this seem reasonable?

Why not? Offer what you think you can get. The most they'll say is NO. Then see what else they do offer. Be prepared to walk out and come back another time. And never tell them you have a trade until they give you a fixed price on the new car. THEN ask what they'll do on your trade... It's all a game and if you go in forearmed and informed you'll do fine... And no extended warranties either...

Any one in Texas? I am not getting a good discount here. I used Costco program and one dealer gave me $500 above invoice, but when I told him that I would like to trade my 2007 ES350, they offered me $3500 below Kelly Blue Book, so they want to take back all the discount they are offering from my trade. They claim they do not use KBB for the trade. I used KBB before with no problem in other states.

What do you use to evaluate your trade, and if you are in TX, how much discount you are getting.

First off, Costco gets a payday for each lead they send to a dealer. YOU pay the Costco fee... Then this dealer is making up the discount he is obligated to give under the Costco agreement on your trade numbers. Dealers like the Costco deal because Costco sends them numerous leads. Unfortunately this dealer is trying to screw you out of the value of your present car. I'd walk away and go elsewhere. Also, Costco is going to send you a survey asking about the transaction and why you didn't buy. Give them the reason why you went elsewhere... I used Costco once to buy a car and have never gone back as I've found I can do better on my own...

To value a trade vehicle I use several online ratings then average the amount out. You must be very accurate (honest) as to the condition of your car to establish an accurate amount of value using online tables. Also, look at advertised prices of cars that are the same or close to yours. GOOD LUCK!

KBB TRADE value less 20% is generally what most dealers will give you.

I've never taken 20% below KBB on any of my trade-ins. That seems incredibly low. Even Car Max wasn't that low when I had them value my 2013 GS 350 F Sport.
