Pleased, based on reviews
I am even more enthused to see its made in America. Japanese built hasn't bothered me, although in recent times, American made has become very important... times when GM is planning to build cars in China and the majority of American cars aren't made here - Mexico or Canada. If I purchased new, i'd like to know that an American family is benefited by that purchase. We buy used, but I love the fact that our Odyssey was made here. I get profits and blah blah blah, but American made means something to me, more than ever. Pleased to see the newest generation of my car being made here
Interestingly, the Toyotas of the 1990s and early 2000‘s that were made in Japan had one huge advantage: they were mass produced in numbers similar to American cars like Malibu and Taurus, but in very small batches where parts weren’t stocked up, so if there was an issue, it was identified and resolved quickly, not with 150,000 of the affected part in a warehouse and used anyway like gm/Ford. I once knew a Toyota employee who had worked for GM before, and a higher up position, and he told me that if their cars were able to be pushed off the assembly line, that was considered a “pass” and they would be put in a lot to be figured out later. Nothing less than perfection was excepted at the Toyota dealers… Small island. Less room for error
Well that is OK the LS500 is a horrible nervous ride. Bumpy vibrating slap like ride on any little bump. When air rides go bad, they go very bad. The es feels like the gs now its great but larger and newer feeling.
The 2019 ES is definitely a stiffer, better handling car than the outgoing model. Lexus is trying desperately to inject some excitement into the car. In my opinion, the ES is not the car to do that to. I've driven it back to back with it's competitors and it is a nice car. Solid and quiet, but it is losing it's cushy ride, somewhat.
Which competitors offer a more cushy ride now? How do you think the 2019 compares to the previous es350 generation in terms of a cushy ride? I'm looking for a midsize luxury sedan with the smoothest ride. I loved the 4th generation es 350 but didn't like the 5th and 6th as much, because the rides were not as smooth.
You have to remember that even though they are built in the USA Toyota and Lexus use and train their way of building their cars,to their workers. It is a win win.
It’s a shame to hear they’ve gone stiffer. I am in newer lower mileage cars, some quite nice, all the time. Getting back in my ES is a joy every single time. It’s smooth, quiet, and comfortable. That’s the winning combination....
