2026 Lexus es interior big screen plus ambient lighting
What ESs have towing eyelets and towing eyelet coverage in US Owner's Manuals have been discussed several times on this forum. For example from my Trunk accessories - jack, tow hook, etc. - what is supposed to be there? post #4:
Lexus ESs assembled in the Lexus Kentucky assembly plant (which have also been only sold in the US and Canadian market and never for export outside of those two countries) have never been equipped with the towing eyelet feature.
US and Canadian sold 2019 ES300Hs manufactured prior to May 2019 were assembled in Japan and were, IIRC, equipped with the towing eyelet feature. So, the owner's manuals initially included information on towing eyelets for "(vehicles with a towing eyelet)" as qualified in the manuals. However, starting with the 2022 model year versions of the (US and Canadian) owner's manuals the parts of the "(vehicles with a towing eyelet)" qualified text were removed but you'll still find mention of towing eyelets in warnings and notes on some systems not functioning correctly when towing eyelets are in use.

There's color matching covers that are inserted into those knockout holes on production ESs. When inserted, there's two telltale rhomboid seams on the front bumper cover that identifies the ES as a towing eyelet equipped ES as well as a Japan assembled ES.
You might also notice smaller rhomboid seams directly underneath the headlights. That's where the headlight washers emerge from to wash the headlights on ESs equipped with that feature.
It's introduced at the Guangzhou Auto Show happening right now, other markets will follow. China is the ES's biggest market so it makes sense to unveil there.
I don't think the Chinese market cares much, its overshadowed by all the domestic EV's and the ES looks dated in comparison.
Ok I read the Car Scoops article posted on other thread and it says 2026 but already ready for order and in dealerships in China. Did they skip 2025 or they are always a year ahead of us. Hate to appear stupid but selling a 2026 in 2024 just doesn't sound right. By the way these 2 threads do need to be merged somehow. If there is no redesign here for 2026 Lexus must really be holding out for some reason. There EV entry was a fiasco giving $35k discounts to get rid of them. Have heard reports of 900 mile battery they are working on that might be the game changer. We will see.

Not sure who’s officially calling it a 2026?
China ESs are assembled in Japan, and the facelift production already started so probably takes 2 months max for the first order to arrive.
