Yesterday my heads up display had a halo around the display when I started the car. When I restarted the car it went away. Then I noticed that the only display omn the windshield was the compass setting. It would not display any other selection from the steering wheel. I called the dealer who was of no help. Spoke with tech remand sales. I will visit my Lexus dealer on Monday morning and see is we can figure out something. When I got the cat you could scroll through all of the selections and they appeared in the windshield as well as in the box lower left of the dash. Dealer told that when you changed radio stations the new station is displayed in the headset display. Mine does not do that.

Another issue happened a day earlier when I got a phone call and it was displayed in the small box to the left of the speedometer. Where I got the car the phone information including accept and hang up buttons were displayed in the nav screen. Not now. The dealer could not explain this either.

I've seen a halo effect when the sun shines into the HUD but it's only temporary and everything else seems to work fine. Mine is a '24.

Yours may need fixing let's hope it is a simple one.

 

I at first thought the halo was the morning sun and thats probably it. It did go away. I think I have bigger fish to fry.

 

Sounds like something that would be covered under warranty. Service centers love doing those jobs because they get paid out directly from Lexus.

 

Car was delivered the end of July and only has 787 miles so under warranty

 

I have been playing with the heads and think I have figured out my problem. Mostly my fault. Just need to become more familiar with its operation and what can and cannot be displayed in the headsup display. Thanks to those who responded.

 

Does the gear position selected and speedometer reading getting displayed on the HUD? If not, then something is really wrong since those two items should always be displayed on the HUD whenever the HUD is turned on.

There a Multi Information Display (MID) setting that controls whether or not the audio system related information (e.g., new radio station/channel changed to; IIRC audio volume change; etc.) is displayed on the HUD (assuming, of course, a properly working HUD system). In case you don't already know where that MID setting is located this is the MID menu item chain where you'll find the control: Settings (the gear icon) -> Vehicle Settings -> HUD -> HUD Driving Support -> Audio (toggles ON/OFF)



Before taking your vehicle into the dealer's service department, if you haven't already done so suggest you try to find a guaranteed repeatable case where that occurs. Document the conditions under which the issue occurs along with a short video (or photos of what the MID display and center/navigation display are displaying) so the dealer's service technician will know how to cause the issue to occur and what to look for on the displays.

In case it needs to be said, don't try to find the repeatable case while driving on roads or streets. Use a location where you can concentrate on finding the repeatable case without having to focus on safely driving your ES. Having your phone calling partner at the same location would facilitate fidig the repeatable case too.

Just went to the car and when I start it the HUD shows that I am in park and also shows the temperature. Temp then goes away. Display changes to R when I put in reverse and Drive when I put it in drive then does not show status.
I tried to follow your suggestion regarding the mid display. Selected settings but then could not find Vehicle settings??? Found Venicle customazion but that wasn't it. I ground to a halt when I could not find Vehicle settings

Went to the car again. Found vehicle settings on the steering wheel section. Not on the NAV screen. There were 4 selections. Audio is ON

 

Changing stations, changing volume, only show on HUD when using steering wheel controls

I'm pretty sure that when using the paddle shifters and HUD is on, the gear number is displayed.
