Default Lexus ES Undercarriage

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are well.

I bought a new ES last Friday. I heard a noise from the car and had a look at the undercarriage. There is a section that rattles when tapped. It sounds like stones.

It looks to me like potentially a drip tray with absorbents material in it. Can anyone confirm if the ES ships with such a thing or if debris has got into undercarriage?

many thanks

There are several such panels under there. Could be debris, could be missing fastener clips, or both. Send some pics.

In my experience, that is something the dealership will fix promptly while you enjoy a complimentary doughnut in the waiting room. The well run dealerships will also apologize.

This is true in North America but I don’t know if dealers in Scotland are as responsive. I might question if Lexus enjoys the same attentive support or prestige at a European/UK dealership?

Surely dealers in Scotland are aware that providing customer service and a pleasant atmosphere keeps the customers coming back for additional service.
My impression now is that a visit to a Scotland dealership is like going to a goat rodeo in a laundromat. Without doughnuts.

Sounds like those of us outside of Scotland need a road trip to check it out. But wait…how will we get our cars there? I was in Edinburgh a couple years back and I don’t recall seeing many Lexus vehicles.

As I was treating my car with fluidfilm I took those protective panels off to put fluid film. There is nothing between the panel and car body to rattle Most probably you got some small stone in there.
