I stupidly began to add some older green coolant that is ethylene glycol to the reservoir. I quickly realized my mistake and emptied the reservoir and added Prestone recommended for Lexus. The owner's manual indicates that Lexus uses a hybrid OAT coolant which I understand should not be mixed with the older style ethylene glycol antifreeze because it can gunk up the system. However, I see on the recommended coolant one of the ingredients is, in fact, ethylene glycol. What am I missing here? Thanks in advance.
OOPS. Never mind my earlier post. I se now in the owner's manual that the OEM coolant is ethylene glycol based.
Not that simple, Toyota coolant is carefully formulated. If you mix it with generic Prestone in my experience it gels up and causes all kinds of issues. Running pure Prestone is a sure way to ruin your cooling system. Here is what's actually in Toyota SLLC
