Default New (to me) '15 ES 350 owner and I am wondering...s...

...if there are any unusual features I need to know about. I was a BMW owner for years and would visit Bimmer Post and was amazed at the info you could find about my car (such as holding down the 'open door' button and all windows and even the sun roof would open) that I'd have never known.

Let's face it; the manual for this car is like War and Peace and I'm trying to find the time to start reading some of it. One thing I read in the reviews of this car was that the entertainment/nav system was quirky and confusing, and I have to say I agree. The 'iDrive' on my BMW was very user friendly imho, but this one not so much.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any short-cuts or unusual features that a new owner might miss.

I'm amazed that about 150 have read my post but not one person has replied or made a suggestion. Very interesting indeed.

Welcome and congrats on your ES purchase. Did your dealer not have had a technology specialist walk you through all the features? Maybe they don't do that on CPO's???

Anyway, I've had my ES for over 4 years and can't think of any "unusual" features it has. There are several features, which can easily be found in the following link: http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/MY1...i_customer.pdf

If you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to come on here and ask.

Still looking for a thread that was finds you discovered about your ES. Very informative and will keep looking. If you are new to Lexus a wise wise choice. Lexus has been rated #1 in reliability by J D Power for six years in a row. They also are the third least expensive to maintain.

http://twocents.lifehacker.com/the-c...ver-1781639773.

I never go in and ask for the 15,000 mile, 30,000 mile etc. scheduled maintenance. Every 10,000 miles an oil change and tire rotation is needed. At the Lexus dealership this should be less than $100. Every 30,000 miles the brake fluid needs to be changed and again about $100. Every 20,000 miles change the air and cabin filters. This combined takes five minutes and the air filter can be bought on line at Lexus Parts World for $18. The cabin air filter can be bought at Walmart for $18, It is the Fram Fresh Breeze #10285 with carbon and baking soda to filter the air. Wiper blade inserts again can be bought at Lexus Parts World for $20 for both refills and takes five minutes to replace. You are done until 100,000 miles. At Lexus Parts World use cl5 in the promo code for 10% discount. If you go in and ask for the 10,000, 20,000 30,000 maintenance you will be paying big bucks for a lot more items you do not need checked and inspected. Once a year replace the key fob battery cr2032. Keep receipts for everything. I take my oil filter and 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 purchased at Walmart for $24 to my local Toyota dealer and they charge me $20 labor.

I took my garage door opener along but he wasn't able to get it programmed into the car and said he would send a tech to my house. When I get home, I tried to program it and it worked immediately.

Don't get me wrong; I'm decent with tech stuff (my '06 BMW had navigation with voice command), but have to say the Lexus isn't quite as intuitive as the BMW iDrive. I'm figuring things out pretty well and check the manual when I'm stuck. However, the Bimmer Post forums had some incredible threads about stuff you could do that wasn't necessarily in the manual or so obscure you wouldn't think to check. I was just hoping for info like that.

This is a great addition. The center storage bin is so deep things get lost in the bottom. With this I put things I rarely use in the bottom of the tray and everything else on top. Great coin holder.

I would encourage you to read the manual. It can be a tad tedious, and sometimes confusing, but has a lot of things you may not know the car has. And some of the quirks. Plus you can find out all the user options that either you can change or the dealer can.

I just traded my 2010 ES on a 2017 ES and am going through the manual now. And I'm finding things my old car didn't do.

Mentioned above. My dealer doesn't have a technology specialist. They used to, but said he ended up spending all his time trying to deal with the Enform people. Heck, my salesman spent 2 hours with them and me at home for a while before they got THEIR system to work correctly. Then all was well. Was aggravating though.
