panoramic roof rattle
Questions for the UL peeps- I have an ongoing rattle issue with the panoramic moonroof on my 2013. In the 'up' position, it tends to rattle quite often going over small divots, bumps, railroad tracks, etc. I had the tech look at it once, and they did find a loose bracket/clip, and while it improved the rattle, it didn't entirely get rid of it.
I let them know this during my last service, but they said that they couldn't duplicate it, and that some rattles are just 'normal' and within acceptable noise ranges. I just can't see this as being true- I've owned plenty of cars with sunroofs, and never once has one rattled like this one does. Even the loaner i currently have(standard sunroof) is completely quiet going over the same roads that would cause mine to rattle.
I brought it up yet again, now that the car is in the shop getting the evap drain leak fixed, and sent in some videos showing how i can make it rattle just by moving it up and down by hand. In both the 'open' and 'up' positions, if I grab the rear corner and wiggle it up and down, the driver's side makes a quite audible clicking noise, while the passenger side is completely quiet.
So the questions i have are, has anyone experienced rattling from their panoramic roof, and can anyone with a panoramic roof perform this same hand- wiggle test, and see if they can hear any noise/clicking at all? The tech is taking another look at it, so we will see what they say. Thanks all!

I haven't noticed any rattles. But, I'll give your wiggle test a try this weekend, if I can remember.

I did your wiggle test on my pano. It does move side to side, slightly, but makes no clicking sound. Maybe your's is missing a bushing, or something. I would think the dealer would put a little more effort into it, though. Especially if it's easily demonstrated. Good luck!

Mine rattles and yes I agree I've never driven a car with a louder sun/moon roof. I thought it's was normal, since I only hear it in the up/open positions or during the closed position with cold outdoor temperatures I can here the glass try to flex when taking an incline/decline at a side way angle causing the chassis to flex.
I drive a 2013 ES 350 UL with 60k miles, in just used to it now.

the tech foreman is looking into it today to see if there is anything they can do to fix the rattle. After having the loaner for a week(2015 ES 300h, standard sunroof), it really makes me notice how much more wind noise gets through the glass roof. I don't think I'll be getting the panoramic roof in the future; it seems counterproductive to pay more for an option that has more problems and is noisier than the standard option, and is a little shabby of Lexus to sell a substandard product for more money.

no thats the thing, it started happening after about a year/20k miles, at which point I took it in and they found the loose bracket, which helped, but didn't entirely fix it. I definitely plan on making them show me a new one with the same rattle if they say they can't fix it.

Just to update this- Below is tech's response.
"Was unable to verify rattle. However noted click
sound when pushing on left rear corner of sunroof glass as
per guest description. Removed sunroof glass and adjusted
mounting point and was able repair. Clicking sound is no
longer present when pushing up on left rear corner of sun
roof glass."
The good news is, it appears that they did fix the rattle! Sunroof is nice and quiet going over bumps now.
