Question Air ventilated Seats

The weather is finally warmer in New York, used my air ventilated seats and air only comes from the centre of the back of the seat anyone else with the same issue? I thought the bottom of the seat was ventilated as well.

I can attest that mine does not blow anything from the bottom of the seat. I actually thought it wasn't working at all, but now that you said you feel it in the back center, I guess I'll check there. I wish it "cooled" the whole seat like the M37 I rented in Maui last year. That was awesome!

So should air actually come out of the seat and the seat back?

Spoke to the service advisor at the dealership and they will look at it next week, they said it should be ventilated in the bottom if you get the ventilated seat option.

The seat cushions are/should definitely be ventilated. I find the system does a great job at preventing you from "sticking" to the seats. It also works at cooling better with fabrics like cotton, that breathe well-- with tight-knit polyester, not so much.

In general, the ventilation won't have an effect if somehow a tight seal is being formed between you and the seat. Air won't be able to flow through and instead creates a vacuum, (laws of physics!). You can adjust your lumbar and seating position to prevent this from happening. However, I think in your case the cushions just aren't blowing anything.

My ventilated seats are worthless,I cant feel them at all. My car is currently in the shop for 5k service and this is one of the things I am having them look at.

I checked after seeing this post as the weather here in PA just became warmer also. If I put my ear against the seat back I can hear a motor sound and the SURFACE of the seat back is cool. I did not feel air coming thru the material. I then checked the seat bottom and again could hear a motor sound but no air movement.

You don't really feel air coming through the perforations if you touch them with your hand. Its more a movement of air within the seat cushion IMHO, I think they work well.

I would imagine the intention of Ventilated seats are just to keep the surface of the leather cooler after the car has been sitting in the hot sun. Probably not meant to actually cool you off. That's what climate controlled seats do but not these.

Actually went to the dealership yesterday afternoon, and the dealership said it is not working properly and gave me a loaner so they can find out why the bottom is not working.

I'm currently renting an MKS with AC seats. That's probably the only thing I like better about it than my ES.

I can feel air through the upper back of the seat and the front bottom.
Its not much, but it does cool the seat.
