Reprogram 2014 ES 300h Key Fob
I have a 2014 ES 300h and have only one key, so picked another key with the same FCC ID from a friend and need to program the key fob. Anybody have instructions for it without going to a dealer?
Keep in mind the key you picked up must be new or re-virginized, erased and reset. I’ve already done the same with my 2014 ES350, just like member 703 said. Techstream was really worth the price and headache to get up and running, several threads on getting set up and running, a stand alone lap top with win XP is the best solution.
Here are your options:
1) Find a local locksmith, have him re-virginize the key and program it to your car.
2) Search eBay, there is a seller who advertises they can re-virginize a used key.
3) Serach eBay, you may find a seller who will buy your key and sell you a re-Virginized key.
you can also buy key blanks and have a local place that cuts keys cut the blank to your car using your current emergency key. You can find a seller on eBay that can cut you an emergency with a picture of your current emergency key, many reviews say it works, I’d want a warranty that he will send a replacement if it does not. I would not take the car to Lexus dealer for the programming, they typically won’t program a used key even if it has been re-virginized. I bought a used key off eBay and had no problems, I have a 2014 ES350, I do have techstream, I even erased the keys I did not possess because the dealer sold me the car with only one key. My used key came with a blank emergency key, cost me 10 bucks at local ACE hardware to have it cut.

Just to clarify. I got 1 key fob, 1 smart card with it’s associated thin physical key, and 1 extra physical (emergency) key that would insert into a second key fob when I get it. I think the smart card key was a $100 factory provided option that came with the car.
EDIT: Removed comment about being OP. I am not the OP of this 6th gen ES thread. I am the OP of a related keyfob thread in the 7th Generation ES thread. Mistakenly thought in my thread. So I should not have replied and the above comment applies only to new 2023 Lexus where the 2nd key fob is not provided to buyers due to a parts shortage of key fobs.

Now I know why every Lexus I looked at that were on their way to the dealer had the smart card added as an option ...

Read my edited comment. This is for a 7th generation 2023 ES. Somehow the related 2014 ES thread got mixed in. The original post was in the 7th gen ES tread.

This forum site (for some reason) tries to find "related" posts and add them to the end of discussion. It is very easy to scroll down to those by accident without noticing.
No I am not the OP in the 6th gen ES thread, I am the OP in the 7th gen ES thread about keyfobs. What happened is that while reading in the 7th gen thread I missed the fact that related comments from other threads were appended to the bottom. Since I missed this I assumed all comments were 7th gen. Now I know better.
