Default Windshield wiper activator on steering column snapped!!!

Want to ping the CL group and see if anyone has heard of this. Last night while driving my windshield activator piece broke in half and fell out of the steering column. I am taking it to the dealership today for repair. Anxious to see if they cover this under warranty. I don't feel like I put extra pressure on it. If they don't cover it under warranty, I will probably look to do the repair myself.

Plastic piece snapped off when turning on windshield wipers

I put the unit back in but it doesn't line up

If they don't cover it I would contact Lexus corporate and ask them to get it replaced. This is definitely not common or usual.

I did that once to the cruise control stalk on a Toyota. Definitely was my fault for slamming the stalk down too hard. They told me tough luck.

Maybe Lexus is more generous...but is your car still under warranty?

Dropping the car at the dealership tomorrow to get fixed. Quoted me price of $450 bucks parts and labor. When I inquired with the service customer service rep about the warranty covering this, he indicated it doesn't cover "abuse". He said he would ask his manager about it. I plan to speak with "the manager" when I drop the car off.

Default Could be done for way less

Used wiper stalks are ~$50 on ebay. Installing should be ~30 minutes of labor.

Found those. Wonder would it void the CPO warranty if I do any installations on this nature myself. I am going to press the manager for covering this under warranty

I would go to this website and email or call them before paying the dealer to fix it.
